So far I like the new Plex for Windows. I like that I can download media to my laptop for offline viewing. However, I have 1 movie file so far that does not have the download option (image1). Also this same movie is showing the down arrow in the thumbnail on the dashboard (image2) and it’s not listed in the Downloads section with the other movies I have downloaded using the Plex for Windows app. Other movies downloaded show delete download option (image3).
Weird, Valerian isn’t showing Download or Delete Download options. But, it is showing the download badge in the top left corner.
I believe this means there’s media still downloaded, but, the media isn’t associated with a download that we’re aware of. Felt weird to type that. Basically there’s a file on the file system that we don’t expect to be there.
Try clicking on the rounded arrow icon in the top right of the downloads page. Once it finishes spinning, is the file fixed?
If not, restart Plex. At startup there should be media cleanup. Fixed?
If not, you may need to delete the file while Plex for Windows is closed. It’s in a subdirectory below: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\Plex Media Server\Sync. After that start Plex for Windows. Fixed?
We have a couple systems in place to avoid orphaned files. I’m confused how this one is still hanging out (especially confused if you make it to step 3 before it’s fixed.
The movie Valerian was never queued to Download so not sure why Plex for Windows believes there’s media still downloaded because it was never downloaded, this movie is only on my server.
I did still try your suggestions.
Clicking on the rounded arrow to refresh the downloads does not make Valerian appear in the list, not fixed after this.
Restarting Plex for Windows app as well as my server did not clean anything up, not fixed after this.
I navigated to the subdirectory %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\Plex Media Server\Sync only to find the list of movies I did queue to download but no Valerian in the list.
But then thought I’d try to;
Remove the file from the server file system, then update the libraries to remove the movie, then return the file to the server and then update the libraries once again. Valerian is returned to the library and no longer shows the arrow in the upper left corner of the movie poster in Plex for Windows. Fixed after this.
