Freeview is missing some metadata eg new/repeat which makes it not great.
The best one I have found so far is SchedulesDirect (also not perfect).
Personally, Plex’s old provider (GraceNote) worked well for me.

My option, is to keep using NextPVR, which uses Schedules Direct (same as Gracenote that Plex had, for me this is 99.9% accurate, this always seems recommended if an app can support it, Emby uses this also, but there are other issues for me with their DVR
OTA is out as this does not include Season/Episode, so series link is very clunky if you can get it to work
Plex is currently out as it doesnt have accurate data and the provider will not be pro-active in fixing issues, so there will constantly be errors
You can use SchedulesDirect with Plex with the right script (eg: mc2xml).
Tempting, but as it’s against the terms of using SD, I dont want to risk it
I am happy with NextPVR and just pointing my Plex library at the recordings folder
fair enough. …actually, I am using NextPVR as well.
For those that have had the frequency changes done, does anything much need doing?
My transmitter is listed as one to change on 13th Nov (think its only the main BBC/ITV/Ch4 muxes for me)
Will it just be a case of doing a rescan of channels (using all frequencies) to get things running again?
Miraculous tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir only shows season as “2019” rather than the actual season and episodes. The channel is called Pop on number 206 on freeview. Schedule is listed here: Schedule | POP
Yes - I had it scheduled for recording on MON night but it didn’t record it even though I had set it to record new and repeat airings. I guess it skipped because the Plex DB saw that episode, wrongly labelled as an old one by the Plex EPG, as already watched and therefore decided not to record it.
I usually check Recording Priority to make sure it is definitely scheduled. If not I find it better to cancel the “record series” option and manually record individual episodes. Not ideal but it mostly works. Plex also will not record an episode it thinks is already in your library, which meant I couldn’t even do that trick when the guide had labelled all episodes of the last Ashes cricket test as Day 1.
I usually check Recording Priority
I do the same; it was definitely schedule but didn’t appear as New which is why had New and Repeat Airings enabled.
It’s still showing on my schedule and the next episode on MON 04 NOV is shown correctly as S58E04 although not marked as New:

Info from BBC’s website:
BTW, I noticed the “& 1 MORE” in the exceptions but I can’t find out what this is: BBC ONE EXCEPT NORTHERN IRELAND, NORTHERN IRELAND HD, SCOTLAND, SCOTLAND HD, WALES & 1 MORE

I would guess the extra one will be Wales HD

Update - my status: I am currently busy dealing with issues I have gathered from the forums in the past few weeks and reproducing / getting diagnostics / reporting them to our teams or our provider - depending on where the problems are
I will come back to the forum and pick recent reported issues soon.
Anything desperately urgent please ping me or send me a PM
(We had an issue where data again was reducing in number of days for a few UK channels - that was resolved yesterday) - still in discussions with our provider about processes and alerts
Hey Duggee on Cbeebies is listed as 2019, rather than 2015
His Dark Materials didn’t record on BBC1HD yesterday at 8:00PM despite it showing as being set to record in the guide when I checked on Saturday and Episode 2 showing as a scheduled recording for next week.
No failed listing shows for yesterday either, very frustrating especially on BBC1 as they don’t tend to repeat things so will have to watch on catchup rather than having the whole series on Plex for future viewing.
you can still download with get_iPlayer (or, even better with get_iPlayer Automator if you have a Mac or Downie).

The “New” indicator was missed on the first episode - this has already been escalated to our provider . The 2nd episode does have the indicator set. You could switch to setting: New and Repeat to overcome such errors on new series
The more I use Plex the more infuriating it becomes.
Only been using the DVR with HD Homerun for a week or so and I’m ready to pack it in for another solution (or back to my trusty enigma2 box).
Here’s the latest:
Noticed the Saturday show of Strictly Come Dancing isn’t flagged as “new” on BBC1 HD SCOTLAND, so it wasn’t going to record - just the thing I need on a Saturday night, my wife getting on my case (the Sunday results show IS scheduled to record). She would probably have watched it on iPlayer anyway due to the complete failure to be able to reliably watch an in progress show timeshifted while recording.
I’ll give another shout in this thread for not being able to “allow” my wife to delete her own DVR shows (or downloaded content in the library) leaving me with an administration nightmare to ensure my NAS doesn’t fill up with stuff we don’t want to keep.
The latest thing has just happened - going through the guide for the next week to set some recordings up (although of course only on the computer as the guide on the Nvidia Shield TV app only lets you scroll for 18 hours or so) I wanted to record a documentary on BBC 4 HD tonight, “Rich Hall’s Red Menace” - but no, I don’t have a film library set up (I don’t WANT a film library set up, especially not for TV recordings that are NOT FILMS).
Anyway, I duly set up this library named “TV Film” in the current recordings folder and lo and behold it has decided that Celebrity Catchphrase and last night’s Newsnight are part of a series called “The Dark Man (1951)”…
Honestly, this established piece of software called Plex is a disaster, and as someone who troubleshoots I.T. for a living day in day out the team responsible should be ashamed of themselves as some of the issues I read about on here and have encountered myself have gone on for YEARS!
I said in another thread, it’s as if Plex is written and maintained by folk who never actually watch TV.
More and more I am thinking I have wasted my cash on a lifetime Plex Pass. Should have practised what I preach and RTFM more myself I guess but really, it is all just so unintuative.
Kinda unfair criticism when you are using IPTV and not a Plex supported OTA tuner.
Yes, people could have set “new and repeating” but that’s a hack and it’s too late for this episode anyway.
This is what really worries me - that the provider will never truly get on top of these 1-off’s which completely destroy the whole experience.
I appreciate that you are trying to help everyone under difficult circumstances, so this isn’t aimed at you, but at the EPG service itself.
