So I usually use plex to stream my anime and most of my library. Today I had the chance to test out the new early access UI. Pretty smooth experience so far. But it was lacking one thing I hugely admired in the previous version. That was the custom font cache provided by ass. files when watching anime. The standard subtitles don’t always work that well. That’s why I chose plex over streaming through the tv’s native video player.

As you may have noticed, we’ve been working hard on a rewrite of the Plex application for our smart tv platforms. We first opened up a public preview for the VizioSmartCast and now we are ready to present to you a preview of the Tizen application!

This complete rewrite of the app begins to bring it up to par with the new and improved interface found in our other apps. We’re using WebGL and high performance rendering techniques to provide a faster and smoother experience, and we’ll be bringing this to the rest of our supported TV platforms in the future.

It’s not the scanner perse. The app itself has a specific font setting.
