PMS not recognising my media.

Hi im trying to set up a small home plex server using my shield with an externak hard drive attached.

Problem is plex is just not importing my media. I have attached my movie folder and with the files which i think i have followed the naming structure. Does anybody have any advice?

I am not skilled with a Shield, but I know there are some special considerations when attempting to connect and access an external drive from one. Maybe this article will help?

Thanks for that but no joy. Are my files named correctly that what i was thinking may be the issue?

Ideally, Plex likes to see movies in their own individual/like named folders. Movies are a little more forgiving than shows can be in this regard. If your movie library is correctly pointed to your movie folder, I would suspect these should pick up.

When a PMS scan occurs, can you see items flying by on the bottom of the screen? If not, it may not see the drives/shares correctly.

Your filenames are fine. Is PMS skipping files or is it not reading the folder at all? From Plex Web, hit “Scan library files” then download the logs and provide them here.

It just says scanning files and then stops and nothing is shown. Excuse my ignorance as im new to this how do i download the logs?

From the page @AmazingRando24 pointed you to above:
Tip!: If you already have media content on your drive and would like to be able to add to that content (with Media Optimizer, DVR, etc.), then you could move the existing content inside the NVIDIA_SHIELD folder and edit your library to point to the new location.

From what I see in your image you have a Movies folder that is outside of the NVIDIA_SHIELD folder. Try moving the movies folder into the NVIDIA_SHIELD folder and scan again.

Right think i have found it.

Just did that and still no luck. Updated logs attached.

That is only necessary if you need write access to that folder, i.e. you want to use the Plex DVR feature.

I see a problem in your log. Not sure what it causing it but it does appear to be affecting your media scanning. I’m checking with some folks to see what might be going on. Right now, it looks like it might be a bad PMS install.

Thanks Very Much for all your help

Is it worth setting my PMS on the shield and installing again?

After talking to some folks, it appears that your scanner is not working. It’s running into issues accessing your database to be able to update what it finds. This really shouldn’t be possible so we have no idea what is going on. If you don’t mind, I would uninstall PMS updates then reinstall the update, load the Plex app and go through the setup. To be thorough, maybe even unmount your NAS and remount it.

Thanks ill give it a go. Using an external drive so ill unmount it and report back.

Hi reset my shield to factory default and set the server up but the same thing happens. Can you take a look at my most recent logs?

You are not running the latest version of PMS. Please update it from the Play store.

Hi All resolved updated the server on the shield and it seems to be working now
