New Plex Movie agent

Yes, that’s what it looks like. But there is only one director. The other are assistant directors and script supervisor which shouldn’t be credited as director.

I believe this should be changed. In this aspect, the behavior of the legacy agent was better.

Happy to use the new agent for collection with use a dedicated poster. Is there any plan to use the localized poster like the localized collection name instead of the english one?

I totally agree.

I agreed 100% with @Yaracuy – I see exactly the same (wrong) behavior from the new agent.

The logic for the gathering of the actor avatars seems all over the place IMO.

I want all my movie data to come from TMDB – so if I refresh a movie it should get the data again like the previous agent done. However, its not doing this at all and it should be fixed.

Take Captain America: The Winter Soldier as an example – there is 75 cast members all of which would have been populated into plex with the old agent:

Now only 10 get matched with plex and the avatar icons don’t even match …

Yes, I’m told it is on the To-Do list.

Are there step by step instructions on working with collections, so that we can get rid of our worthless 1 item collections without damaging metadata should we get more items that would create a collection?

Only what is in the 4th post above.
Manually-created collections will be left untouched, simply because the ‘Lock’ is engaged on the items which are part of it.

You’ll have to disengage that lock, if you want Plex to overwrite them with the automatic collections.

I have no manually created collections. They’re all automatic - pre new agent. I still have the worthless 1 item collections, and no orange locks.

I changed the threshold to 2 for a collection, and I still have 1 item collections. So…

What am I missing?

Have you refreshed metadata of your library?

I wouldn’t refresh the whole movie library taking into account that at least, the field director will be wrong.

Perhaps better wait for an update?

I’ve cleaned up my collections removing the items with only 1 movie and set the threshold to 2 in the library options

100% agree – this new agent is not ready for prime time and I’m really regretting applying it to my server. I may just roll back to the previous version and a backup I took earlier this week.

Multiple times.

If there is a hard coded limit on 10 cast members I think this should be addressed too.

For some movies it will be OK but for others, certainly not.

If plex hard coded the cast to 10 then that is one of the worst decisions ever made.

One of the best UX features of plex is the ability to select a cast member and see what other movies they were in from your library.

Considering that there are under 2 dozen collections at all, simply select and delete them.
Shift+click and CTRL+click are working for selection, similarly to a file manager.

Ok, I’ve done that for this smaller collection.

Now, should I get further DVR recordings of items that would make a collection, will these collections be correctly made going forward for the items I have just deleted?

How do I properly go about doing that for my larger DVD collection? Or do I have to go in and delete them manually again?

As I understand it, yes. As soon as the item count exceeds the threshold you have set in the properties of your movie library, the collection will show up.
Just make sure the ‘collections’ input field is not “locked” in the movies’ properties, or those older movies will be missing from the newly created collections.

Thank you for your assistance, Otto. Appreciated.

One thing I noticed after updating my existing library is that all my custom collections no longer have a summary, even though I had manually added something to each one previously. Custom cover and background art remained unchanged however.
