New Plex Movie agent

We are working to fix this on our provider side.

@chrisallen thanks but can I ask what the fix will be? Will all cast members be fetched or 20,30 etc…

I’ve noticed a new feature allowing us to show the title of the film in its original language despite the language selected for the library… would it be possible for the automatic posters to also match the original title instead of the library language?

I have local extras files like alternate/directors cut versions for a few movies that this scanner is now either ignoring or choosing not to show or is truncated when the list of extras gets too big, I’m not sure which.

Will these ever get re-added or do I have to find another work around way for these instead of your blind method of having 15 version of Blade Runner in the main library

Thank you for bringing this topic up.
There’s absolutely no sense in limiting the info that is available for a movie.
We are speaking about text content (movie description), thumbnail icons (actor images) and database entries (list of extras).

I respect the effort to speed up the agent speed as well as thoughts on trying to keep database sizes calculable, but if the wish to maintain a central movie database at Plex cloud results in crippled info, then I call this “flawed design”.
Since we do not have official feedback about the reasoning behind certain limits that are introduced with the new agent, this remains speculation.

I am really liking the new agent, a lot. Since it is still beta (I think) why not add trakt integration. I am talking push pull sync with watched status, collection, watch progress, the whole shebang.

I just refreshed my Movie library and for the most part, it is a great improvement over the previous agent. It seems to be better are choosing posters, and includes more meta-data than before. I am running into one issue, though. For some items that have Extras, it is not recognizing them as Extras, but rather a duplicate of the movie. Here are is a screenshot of the paths. It showed as an extra with the previous agent. Not sure how to fix this?

I don’t think Episode 1 or anything with Jar Jar is supported.

Edit the library settings, make sure this is CHECKED:

(Not unchecked like my screenshot.)

Then Refresh Metadata for that movie. (Not “Scan Library Files”. This agent works differently than the old “Local Media Assets” agent did.)

Because it’s not related to the media scanner & agent. The agent isn’t aware of users, what they watch, or playback status. Trakt integration would be in different code.

There were changes made with this agent that broke the plugin with the best trakt integration for plex. There are requests for this intergration natively that go back over 6 years. The agent is in beta still, and the integration would encourage people to upgrade to the agent. Mostly I am taking any shot I have, even if it is in the dark, to ask for it.

Not saying it makes sense but that is why.

That worked. Thanks. I think you are right, maybe I had the “JarJar” filter enabled. It’s the one labeled “Fix George’s mess!”, right?

Is there a way to show both the Online Extras and Local Content? Now it is only showing the one “Jar Jar” item under Shorts, and the Trailers and such are gone.

No, that makes sense - I wasn’t connecting the dots in the same way.

Yay, happy that helped.

I’m not sure. That’s not what I’m seeing. I assume you also still have Find extras selected in the Edit Library → Advanced settings?

I see an online trailer, then my local extras, and then any additional online extras.

Correct, I have that checked. Maybe there is a delay in pulling back in the Extras?

Would putting the new agent at the bottom of the list just update missing information?

I noticed that too. All the settings are per collection now when you are using the new agent. It’s now under advanced when you edit the library.

@drzoidberg33, @chrisallen
To save you guys multiple pings, I created a bunch of bug reports for the new agent and then listed them below. Some might be related to Plex Web or directly with the agent/scanners.

Scans for renames/file swaps trigger a delete + create action instead of remapping the new file to the existing library item:

Subs not being picked up by scans but by metadata refresh, sub priority order:

Collection summary edit bugs (custom as well as agent created collections)

Advanced settings not displaying when a Plex Web tab has been inactive for long periods of time due to library folders not being displayed:

Thank you so much @rg9400 This is super helpful  I’ll chat with @drzoidberg33 later today to break down and discuss these issues. For now I will get them over into our internal issue tracker for triage.

edit: oh good lord this was completely my fault. ignore me.

:+1: quality reporting.
