Where would be the best place to report matching issues that seem tied directly to the new agent? I’ve had multiple items that match to something so far off base, it’s as if it isn’t looking at the filenames at all - the most recent one i had was this:
Scanner [Plex Movie]: found cloud match for file ‘“/Local-media/Videos/Movies - 720p/I Am Legend (2007)/I Am Legend.720p.4Mbps.mp4”’: ‘Rihanna: The Videos’
If i go and manually fix the match, it comes up fine. any thoughts?
I have been using “A Better Rename 11”. You can create a droplet that accepts files like that and will rename then to something like this:
The Worlds Best Movie (2021) [1080p DolbyDigital 5.1].mkv
The Worlds Best Movie (2021) [1080p DolbyDigital 5.1].srt
The Worlds Best Movie (2021) [1080p DolbyDigital 5.1]-poster.png
@quekky, Can you share the full path to your files?
There was an issue recently, which I thought had been corrected, where additional parts of the path were incorrectly included in the matching process. “My Hard Drive”, for instance.
Malaysia Films/Find My Dad 平平安安 (2015)/[FULL MOVIE] 平平安安 Find My Dad _ WebTVAsia x #MAGGISahMalaysia Movie Marathon #SuperStreamMY (858p_24fps_VP9-128kbit_AAC).mkv
Malaysia Films/Paint My Love 再见我爱你 (2015)/[FULL MOVIE] 再见我爱你 Paint My Love _ WebTVAsia x #MAGGISahMalaysia Movie Marathon #SuperStreamMY (1080p_24fps_H264-128kbit_AAC).mp4
Malaysia Films/Kara King 冠军歌王 (2013)/[FULL MOVIE] 冠军歌王 Kara King _ WebTVAsia x #MAGGISahMalaysia Movie Marathon #SuperStreamMY (1080p_24fps_H264-128kbit_AAC).mp4
Malaysia Films/Get Hard Tongkat Ali 软焦族 (2018)/[FULL MOVIE] 软焦族 Get Hard Tongkat Ali _ WebTVAsia x #MAGGISahMalaysia Movie Marathon #SuperStreamMY (858p_24fps_VP9-128kbit_AAC).mkv
There’s quite a bit of extra (and duplicated) text in those filenames that might be causing the matching problems.
I don’t know if having the name twice in different languages would cause issues. That’s probably not the core problem.
Have you tried naming them per these guidelines?
Films/Movie Name (YEAR)/Movie Name (YEAR) [Extra Info Plex Will Ignore].mkv
Extra information in square brackets [] will be ignored. The hashtags and other text currently in the filenames could be hurting matching. The fact they’re all being matched to the same movie makes me think some of the extra info is the problem.
The other thing you could do is add the IMDB or TMDB IDs. That might be enough to solve any matching problems without any other naming changes. For the first one you would add {imdb:5334958} to the directory or file name.
This would be clean naming:
Malaysia Films/Find My Dad 平平安安 (2015) {tt5334958}/平平安安 Find My Dad (2015) [858p_24fps_VP9-128kbit_AAC].mkv
I don’t see an IMDB match for ‘Paint My Love’, but I did find a TMDB match, and putting the TMDB ID into the folder is enough even without cleaning up the rest of the filename:
Malaysia Films/Paint My Love 再见我爱你 (2015) {tmdb:740009}/[FULL MOVIE] 再见我爱你 Paint My Love _ WebTVAsia x #MAGGISahMalaysia Movie Marathon #SuperStreamMY (1080p_24fps_H264-128kbit_AAC).mp4
And I tested this with Kara King and it works:
Malaysia Films/Kara King (2013)/Kara King (2013).mkv
I’d strongly suggest Filebot or tinyMediaManager if you have a large number of films that need naming cleanup.
If you want to follow the latest/current version of the naming schema, use {tt5334958}. That being said and from what I’ve seen, {imdb:5334958} should give you the same result.
{tmdb:24428} format works too - I tested those filenames above. I didn’t see an IMDB ID for ‘Paint My Love’.
In my experience it works if it’s in either the filename OR if it’s in the directory name.
These formats were both discussed in the forums before the updated movie agent was released … but with the obvious caveat that they aren’t documented in that support page. I agree it’s best to follow the documentation whenever possible.
I also tested this file name as well with the same results:
Y:\Movies\Beats (2019) {TMDb-493141}\Beats (2019) [BLURAY-1080P] [AC3 5.1] [HOMEMADE] {TMDb-493141}.mkv
Yes. Every time I tested it with a new name or condition I did the dance. I also tried it before and after manually fixing the match to the correct movie. Every time I did the Plex Dance and moved the file back I get the wrong movie.
Edit: I also cleared the caches and restarted the server a couple time in between changes as well just to be safe.
