New Plex Player Unable to Play Videos that Used to Play in Old Version - How to Roll Back?

My SONY Android TV 55x900e was getting a little laggy so I factory reset it, and had to reinstall PLEX. The new app not only takes ages to load every page - as it’s clearly downloading stuff for some reason every time you go to a new page - but it simply won’t play many movies that used to play just fine.

These seem to be restricted to 2160p REMUX files, all other content including 2160p x265 encodes play fine. On the old player these would sometimes play at native and sometimes not, but I was always able to switch to ‘20mbps 1080p’ and then they would play. Now it won’t play them natively and says check connection even if I set home streaming to 20mbps 1080p in settings.

And I guess while I’m griping about the new player, I no longer get prompted to start at beginning or resume, which is especially frustrating for TV shows where there’s only like 1.5m left… have to reset via "mark as watched’ for every episode.

Does anyone have any solutions to any of these three issue, the inability to play being the only one I really care about? Is there a way to install an older version via the Play Store? This new player is killing me - all my best movies are 4k REMUX and it simply won’t do it. Another player on my LG ROKU that I installed couple years ago, same network, ethernet connection, still plays everything fine.

Server Version#: 4.108.0
Player Version#: 9.27.0.2856

So… was just trying anything and everything, and turning off previews (it was set to play 3) seems to have fixed the issue.

No idea why that matters, but with previews turned off it plays stuff fine.

Of course I didn’t try this until after I posted, but I guess maybe this may help someone else in the future.

While I’m still here though… is there ANY way to stop it from downloading stuff every time I load a page? It does this even when I go to a movie, go back to the library, and then open that same movie again immediately… like a 20-60sec lag of a loading screen.
