I had a power outage the other day and it took out something on my Plex Server. So I moved all the storage and metadata over to my laptop for now.
But now the left hand list does not populate with my categories. It just has Tidal and all the recommended Plex extra junk. So everyone has to unpin all of that, then go into More > Select my laptop > then manually pin each section.
I never had to do that before on any clients I used. But currently Plex Web, Plex Media Player, Roku, and Xbox all behave the exact same way. Technically it is functional, but it’s a real pain. Any ideas?
When these clients were setup the first time, they probably configured themselves, because back then, there was only one Plex server connected to the account.
But now you have two servers and the clients were already set up.
Your best shot is to trigger this initial “set up wizard” again, which streamlines the “pinning” a bit.
Yeah, I was able to trigger that process easily on the Plex app on the PC. But trying to trigger that default setup on the Roku, it would not let me remove all of that extra stuff that comes default with Plex. I just had to manually pin it all.
I have also removed the old server hoping that would fix it, but no luck.
Sounds like I’m just stuck configuring devices that had previously connected to my old server.
I don’t have a Roku, so I cannot tell you from experience how it works on there, but purportedly it should work just as described in the last of the above links.
