New Plex version 1.16.1 update no longer detects Hauppauge DVR

Plex was working fine last night when I got prompted to do a server update and since then it is no longer able to see the Hauppauge dual HD tuner which is really annoying considering that I am paying for a monthly subscription.

Reverted back to 1.15 which fixed the problem, it would be preferable to not have to do this again.

Can you upload your full PMS logs? If the one from when you were on 1.16 is available, we might be able to identify the problem.

FYI - The change to the guide should not have had any affect on identifying your DVR.

Sorry but I don’t feel comfortable uploading the logs to a public forum because there are several references of my login ID in there, what is the alternative?

same here. updated to plex 1.16.1.1246 and my hauppage hvr-2210 is no longer detected

Same for me. My TV guide listing showed up in the iOS app and web client; but not on my Nvidia Shield (the server) or Apple TV. I deleted the DVR and went to add it back and bang… its gone again. I was without the Hauppage tuner for 4 weeks in December and January because of the 7.2 Experience upgrade… seriously fed up here!

I tried the uninstall and reinstall mentioned elsewhere but still no good.

I rolled back to 1.15 and all ok

I’m up and running fine on 1.16.1,
Steps I followed

  1. Deleted the DVR
  2. Uninstalled 1.16.1
  3. Installed 1.15.8 (from the Updates folder) and blocked updates
  4. Created the DVR Scanned for Channels - OK
  5. Hit an issue downloading EPG, would not accept a Post Code
  6. Did an update scan and installed 1.16.1
  7. DVR was still there and it accepted my Post Code to download the EPG
  8. All working fine

Still no good.
There was no DVR to delete.
I Uninstalled 1.16.1 ok.
Went to install from Updates folder but most up to date version there was 1.13 !
Downloaded 1.16.2 and installed.
Still unable to find DVRs.

Is there any update from Plex on this? Perhaps even an acknowledgement that the problem exists? I am still seeing ‘cut the cord’ Plex DVR posts on Facebook… which must be embarrassing for Plex when their DVR functionality is broken!

Thanks for the file of 2.15

Got this to work.

  1. Still couldn’t delete the DVR as it doesn’t show one.
  2. Switched off auto updates and uninstalled 1.16.2
  3. Installed 1.15.8 with now problem.
  4. Created DVR on the WinTv USB duals.
  5. Hit same issue.
  6. Did an insitu update to 1.16.2. All ok.
  7. DVR accepted postcode. Just first part of postcode required.
  8. All working fine.

Please excuse my ignorance, but on a Nvidia Shield how to you install an earlier version? 1.15.8? I can do the uninstall and turn off of updates, it is the install of an earlier version that I need help with

Glad I am not alone. I upgraded to 1.16.3 yesterday and DVR was hosed. Did not record anything, could not view live. Tried to delete DVR and that failed several time. After going through reinstall and losing all database access I pulled my hair out. Fortunately, I had backup copied of dbs and metadata and was able to surgically repaid the Plex folders to restore playlists, collections and all metadata. And eventually I was able to delete the DVR and add it again, and it eventually found the Hauppauge tuners. First time I experienced the new tuner setup with new EPG. It is better - but still gets some incorrect mappings with my cable provider’s channel setup.

But, what is with the missing genre categories???
