Since updating to the new sever I can't play anything through my xbox 360. Every attempt is met with a Error communicating with your Plex server. Looks like it has to do with the new secure connections feature but I'm not 100% sure. Can I just disable this feature so I don't have to wait for it to be supported through the xbox 360 app??
Is your secure option in the server settings set to required? If so that is likely the problem.
It was set to preferred so I tried setting it to disabled but no change.
Thinking it's something else that's causing the communications error now.
I deleted and reinstalled the Plex Media server and it's now working again on the 360.

I don't know how that worked but it did:
1.)Uninstall Plex server
2.)Reboot
3.)Install Plex server, downloading fresh from Plex.tv
4.)Profit! -Or just enjoy on your Xbox 360 again
**All libraries and settings still intact**
I am paying for premium service. This is unacceptable. I just wasted an hour trying to find a solution for this. I will discontinue my service unless I am credited for a month. I would report this directly to Plex instead of the forums but they do not give me any other contact options from what I can tell.
I see that it says this is answered, but I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it didn't help. The xbox will see the local server. When I try to watch from my friends servers, the one friend that has updated his server to the latest update, I cannot access his movies. I can see them, but cannot access them to watch.
you need to uninstall the server not the app.
Have you just tried too disable the SSL option and restart the PMS. It is not enough just too disable it. A restart is required when changing that option.
It was not a problem with the server. My laptop connected to everything, and I ended up just plugging my dusty ps3 to watch plex on the tv. It is a problem with the 360 app. At least for me, sorry.
yes it is a problem with the 360 app, BUT reinstalling the SERVER fixes it, until the server reboots then you gotta do it all over again ( discovered last night ), the APP needs to be fixed as seriously it's the ONLY reason I pay for plex pass.
I installed 0.9.12.3 this morning, and it works on my xbox alright. I'm not running the Windows firewall on my server, could that be stopping yours?
it works because as you said you installed it this morning........ same result as reinstalling in other words.
Until plex fixing the app the only way to fix the issue is as stated reinstall the SERVER
I confess that I did not attempt to play a video on my xbox. I assumed that if I could navigate the libraries, all was good.
I didn't have to reinstall, only had to change SSL mode to "preferred" instead of "required".
Changed to unanswered after I finally realized the reinstall was only a temporary fix. I at least figured out that I didn't have to uninstall the server first as selecting Repair through the setup file fixed it till the next server restart. Changing the SSL settings had no effect on my server as well.
yep confirmed repair works the same as reinstall, and ssl has zero effect, THIS APP NEEDS FIXING!
Yup, I marked it as fixed, but had the same issue after rebooting my PC.
Confirmed we are back in business after reinstalling. I installed 9.1201.1079 so we'll see if I have to do this again tomorrow.
