New Synology DS1520+ Plex Install

I just purchased a new Synology DS1520+ and installed the Plex package manually. I have the Plex pass, so I logged in with my credentials and selected my user. However, I can’t seem to add any of the shared folders and libraries from my NAS. I’m used to running Plex on a Windows 10 computer so this method is brand new to me. I don’t even see a media button on the left hand sidebar menu.

In order to get Plex going on Synology,

From your browser: http://lan.ip.of.syno:32400/web (setting a bookmark helps)

Now you can sign it in (claim it) an you , as administrator can do what’s needed.

Also, once claimed to your account, you can administer remotely.

Can I hook a 3.5" SATA HDD to the eSATA port on the back of my Synology to transfer data to my shared folder? What is the best way to copy all of my previous Plex media?

You can transfer in the media ANY way the Syno will permit you. (esata or usb3)

Once you do get the media into the shared folders,

you’ll want to make certain Plex can see all the media.

You can opt for Read-only or Read/Write.

Here’s the How-To

It was frustrating, but I think I finally figured it out. My issue was I was using the installed app on the Synology to establish the initial connection, which didn’t let me connect to setup the NAS. Once I used http://ipofsynology:32400/web, I was able to get it going. Now to just transfer the 4 TB of data :frowning: Thanks so much for your help!
