I really hope Plex can see their customer base is not happy. I don’t see admins, devs, support weighing in. Hopefully they’re in the background scrambling to fix it. The new interface was designed for a tablet, we should have had an opportunity to test the new experience. We also should have the ability to toggle the experience (new or classic) . I’ve been a lifetime member for 5 years now and this is a major interface change. I like the feature set of Plex, but this user experience was a swing and a miss. At the very least, give us the ability to go back to what we had.
What we need is a complete rollback to the previous version that everyone liked and that actually functions. But that is too much to ask from Plex, my guess is their arrogance won’t allow them to revert. They’ll just force this on us and maybe try to make minor tweaks if the complaints don’t stop. I don’t think they really care because no thought at all went into a bad update like this.
Doesn’t work for me unfortunately. Libraries don’t stay favorited.
I regret my lifetime pass purchase.
Guess I’m the sucker
I am glad I never gave Plex any of my money and only ever used it as a free user.
Agreed, this is the worst interface I’ve ever seen. What is it with these morons who just up and change a users experience without giving them a choice? Fire everyone involved with this update.

Second that. Fire them all!
Even if they did (and Plex doesn’t force^ app updates to begin with) there is an alternative already available for FireOS/Android TV.
^ – they only publish the apps to the relevant app stores for a device. Roku are the ones that “force” updates on users, by making them automatic and giving the consumer no option to stop them.
I can start videos, but then my remotes become unresponsive. Except to turn off my ROKU TV. Nice.
Every time I think “maybe it will be better this time I use it” and it never is. Every time it just is so annoying. It is far harder to do what I want and no way to actually customize it so that it works. Beyond me how anyone thought this is what users wanted.
Plex updates that app and that’s how it gets forced on the Roku. Without Plex making this change Roku wouldn’t have the new update to begin with. As far as the Plex app for Fire TV and Android, if you think this Roku version is only going to stay on the Roku it won’t. The plan is to force the same thing across all devices.
I keep trying it hoping it will actually work and nothing. Beyond frustrated.
My app updates are disabled on my my Fire Sticks and Android TV devices. The old app remains until I approve a newer one. Even if it got installed by accident, I can just sideload the old APK of the previous app.
I agree with you @ccaf but don’t blame the devs, they do the work they’re assigned. This is all from product managers and c suite. They call the shots, good or bad. In this case extremely bad.
It’s interesting how so often the people really responsible for screw ups are coincidentally the ones most insulated from the effects of their decisions.
I have been using plex for so long (easily over 12 years) I can’t even remember when i started and have never posted anything. However, this UI is so crappy that I had to say something. I am so disappointed that I guess it is time to move back to Kodi or start using jellyfin
Agreed this is a complete and total disaster. I have discovered that you can turn off the “Live” and “Discover”, etc. by changing the options under “Online Media Sources” to Disabled. You can do this on the server side and it will reflect on the client side (I had to restart the client I think twice before it had gone into effect).
To say it’s awful is being kind.
The positive thing I can say here is that I am happy to know I am not alone in my anger.
I do not have any social media, I don’t use forums, honestly cant stand anything about any of these things. But, the new update has forced me to write on here. Plex you have screwed up big time on this one. You took a lite weight, decently organized program and turned it into a bloated piece of garbage. Whomever was part of this disaster needs to be fired. The worst part of this whole thing is the idea of how many times you guys patted yourselves on the back while creating this unusable pile of junk. I hope that these post are not met with empty apologies. Just sh*t can this new interface and roll everyone back.
The people who want to make more money. The new plex is a nightmare, I do not want discover or live tv on my home screen. I guess time to switch
