New UI is an awful experience

it was perfect now it’s unusable garbage. If we can’t get the option to switch back, I will be forced to leave this product. Even if it worked the layout is so bad.

Roku TV. The new UI is horrible. I hate this app. No good flow. I want the listings to the left brought back. This is ridiculous that you can’t go back to the good version. It’s total garbage. Whoever designed this, whoever approved this, and the managers who thought this was a good thing should all be fired. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Plex as it’s complete and utter garbage now, especially after separating the music into another horrible app.

Music and photos are coming back, eventually. So far it’s the only thing they’ve been willing to reverse course on.

Well it is clear. Plex already has all of our money since most everyone purchased a lifetime license. I loved Plex so much that I had purchased two of them. It is unusable for us now and they don’t care. I will move to Jellyfin even though it isn’t as good as the old app but way better than this!

I am going to cancel Plex if this is not fixed. This is absolutely horrible, I don’t care about your attempt at integrating into a streaming service.

I used to lose sleep by sitting in front of my TV watching the shows and movies I have curated on Plex for a decade.

Now I am losing sleep due to the anger I feel regarding this one idiotic update.

Dear Plex Team, you have heard hundreds or more voices screaming at you that the new user experience is full of pain and suffering. You have been told to roll it back (a least until you can fix the newer version to be more in line with the users), OR put in an option that changes the new app to a more classic feel, OR to provide a classic version of the app alongside the current one so users can choose, OR to lose your users, any money you would get from them, any new users they would have brought in, and any new users you will not be getting due to the word of mouth about how you treat your paying and lifetime users.

It is your choice. What is it going to be? And don’t dilly-dolly about it, you are losing users by the hour.

Seriously, Plex? How many angry users does it take for you to learn how to communicate? There has been no message from plex about any of this, the change, the angry users, their stance, their strategy for dealing with it. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Yeah, the update seriously sucks, but hiding and pretending nothing happened is a pathetic way for a company to handle a situation like this. Where are the grownups in the room?

I do not like the Roku UI along with so many others. I have a couple Roku’s and a Shield. Based on the new Roku UI, I really hope they don’t mess with the Shield UI. Keep it as is please.

A Plex employee is actually responding in another forum thread. His display name is McWanke. The thread is at “Roku New Experience Release Update”. Currently there are 155 posts there expressing the same displeasure as on this thread. You might want to start airing your frustrations there instead of on this thread.

Roku UI is garbage and on top of that the way the navigation works is making me hit the wrong thing constantly.

I can’t believe how bad this “NEW” user interface is…. I can’t see my 3 plex servers, can’t see my local TV Tuners…

Just a nightmare at best!!!

I agree. They did what Netflix did, and I canceled my Netflix subscription because of this type of interface.

I’m thinking about asking for my money back on the Plex pass, because there is a good chance I’ll not use Plex anymore.

The new UI is terrible. There’s no reason to continue using plex where there’s alternatives like Jellyfin and Emby

Besides the UI being absolutely horrible, the response time is so slow. As I’m browsing through TV episodes, the name and synopsis of the episodes take 1-3 seconds each to update. It used to be instantaneous. Already I’ve accidentally started the wrong episode of a show several times due to this. Realistically, I’d probably get used to the stupid UI eventually, but the lag is a deal-killer.
