New UI is an awful experience

True, it’s ugly, poorly designed, and cumbersome. But, the biggest problem is that it just doesn’t work. I’ve written elsewhere (only) some of the issues I’m having, If it even worked I could figure out how to use it (and yes, I’m a senior), but it doesn’t even meet the basic functionality test

It was a shock and thought something was wrong when our recently watched or continue watching even our library list on the left was gone!!!

Please kiss us, first, Dev team, before you do anything drastic.

Please give us the option to go back to the old interface.

Pausing from remote no longer works as well. Definitely not thought out. Several people will be losing their jobs this week. This update should be patched with the old code ASAP to stem the loss of paying customers.

Not only does the new UI suck, it broke my server and I can’t figure out how to reconnect to it!

It truly is bad. It took me way too long to find anything.

Please Plex, let us at least choose to go back to the legacy UI. You don’t even have to ever update it again, just give us the option.

Adding my vote that the new interface is horrible. I thought Plex was supposed to be first and foremost a way to stream your personal media. That is all I want from it. You would think the first thing to have in a personal server is the ability to customize not force features. I don’t want live tv or on demand. The only thing I like about discover is the trailers, and it doesn’t even work for family sub accounts. I want the customizable side menu back. I also want the classic theme back. I hate having my screen filled up with only one row just to see more of the artwork. I used to be able to see continue watching recently added TV and recently added movies in one screen.

Same here long time lifetime member, now maybe looking to something else after a long time. The new interface is terrible. Please provide the option to use the previous “classic” interface.

I have been a Plex Pass Lifetime member since 6/2017. I moved over to Plex after XBMC, it has been great since then but this new Roku update, what in the hell were you guys thinking?

  • The menu by itself is difficult to navigate

  • You cannot use the search function

  • You cannot use the sidebar below profile picture

  • You can no longer browse your libraries

  • There is no longer a shuffle option

  • The settings menu is completely inaccessible, once you get in there, you cannot move to other options or click anything

  • Half the time you cannot move around the menu to select anything

We have been using the Roku instead of our Samsung TV to access Plex for quite a while now because the Samsung TV Plex App didn’t always work as smoothly as the Roku was, now we are considering to either attempt the TV app again or just search for something else to use besides Plex.

Did you guys even consider what type of effect this would have on your customer base and how many customers you might lose due to your “Updated” changes to one app that tons of people use?

I had to do a search to see if anyone else was having the same type of issues as I was having and oh, boy, everyone and their dog is having the same issues.

This needs to be fixed immediately!

This update is pushing me harder toward others media apps. What a bad move to force me to go through “Recommended” every time I just want to browse my library as it doesn’t remember anymore which tab I’ve used. Stop forcing things like “Discover” and “Others ways to watch” or leave them as options. The pinned my favorites libraries to the side bar is also gone. This new “experience” is a nightmare.

it is unusably bad. it used to take 3 clicks of the remote to get to my Playlists, but now they’re uselessly buried behind so many stupid clicks it’s ridiculous. I don’t want the Live TV or On Demand buttons, I don’t want a top menu, I want the sidebar back, and the ability to rearrange things easily. this new UI is an absolute nightmare and I hate literally every single thing about it. so SO SO awful. consider me one more voice demanding a rollback.

Just adding on this is complete crap. I wish I never bought a lifetime subscription so I could cancel it and at least they’d realize they lost some revenue.

We want the old UI back! I never wanted an “all-in-one” experience. I used Plex to specifically AVOID that. I just want to watch MY media on MY server.

This is terrible.

Yup. I had a TV customized to only show my playlist. Took a press to open Plex, a press to select playlist, move 1 right to shuffle, and press play.

Now I need a friggin map to find it!

It’s CLEARLY this. They removed everything I want to see, and is useful to me on the home screen, and replaced it 100% with nothing I want to see or care about.

I agree with all of the above dislikes the new UI is awfully we all started using PLEX to control our own media if I wanted NETFLIX I would be using it. The ability to remove unwanted UI items is critically. I even want the add to watchlist to go away. Did you all have a Product Manager code this up with AI? Anytime you have more clicks to do something it is a regression. It really sucks.

I am a lifetime user and the Roku app no longer works right for me. I’m angry cause now I have to look at moving to JellyFin or something else.
