New Unauthorized message for remote access out of nowhere...

Hi all,

I really hate asking stupid questions, so I’ve held off for a while, but I’m going to be traveling a lot in the next few days, and Plex is a lifesaver for me when I do so…

When I log into my iOS app while not connected to my Media Server’s network, I cannot connect to my server. I get an “Unauthorized” message. This has only happened in the last few days or so I can tell. I’ve been connecting fine for years; I have a port forward on 32400 which redirects traffic from my public router to a private, fixed IP. Works great until now. Same settings apply – remote access is said to be working, manual port forwarding active, but an “Unauthorized” message. To this point, I have uninstalled/reinstalled the server and recreated and indexed all of my libraries with no change. Really hoping someone can help me figure out what the check or fix.

I have the same problem. When logged into the same network as my server my ios devices has access to it no problem, it’s only remote access that’s withheld. I have tried everything short of uninstalling the server and reinstalling, which is what i might have to try next. From what I’ve been seeing on a lot of forums, threads, and reddit, this is a common problem with plex app version 4.0 released in august, which no one has yet to resolve. Very frustrating and will probably cancel my plex pass if this doesn’t get fixed.

Same as this one?: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/214870/secure-connections-broken-since-latest-plex-web-update/p1

Probably have a setting in the app to not use secure connections on the same network. When you’re external, it will force secure connection and you get an unauthorized error.
