New update 1.32.8.7639 crashing randomly on synology nas

Server Version#:
Player Version#:
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

i updated my synology DS720+ on 7.2 to new pms about 2 days ago to 1.32.8.7639-7000 and afterwards randomly when i go to watch somerthing on my plex app i see that server has crashed and is no longer running, I have restarted it twice and both times within 24hrs it has shutdown or crashed again.
I have now turned on logging to try and catch it the next time it happens so i don’t have logs currently but have logging enabled now so hopefully if it happens again i can post it but wanted to post now just to see if this is a known issue in this latest build and is being addressed already or if it is only happening to me.

  • Debug only, not verbose. Verbose adds too much info and the logs wrap too quickly.
  • Restart PMS if you change the log level.
  • Logging is always enabled. Leave at debug. It saves neither drive space nor server resources to reduce the log level.

Just chiming in to say this version also producing quick crashes (under an hour in one instance) on Max OS X.

Same here - crashed again within about 4 hours on my end. Will collect logs etc if it happens again and feedback here.

I have also been experiencing regular crashes of PMS 1.32.8.7639 on my Synology 718+ (DSM 7.1.1-42962) since upgrading to it on 6th December.
I’ll collect a set of logs and upload them…

I updated and am running 7639 on my DS220+ for several days and have not had a single crash. Everything is fully updated, all Synology packages are updated and Docker container images are all updated. No problems here.

PMS stopped again this afternoon. Just restarted - logs attached.
If anyone can suss out what’s causing this, I’d be delighted

Hardware transcoding is not working on DS423+ on this version of PMS via trashguides container.

Another crash for me (Synology DS923+ running DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 3)

Looks like this might be TV/DVR related having looked into the logs.

Also found another thread from early Nov reporting the same issue - PMS crashing continually since installing 1.32.8.7639 - #10 by DaveSewhuk

Doesn’t appear to have been any input from Plex themselves so may need to consider a downgrade to the previous version.

I installed a beta version a few weeks ago which exhibited the same problems - I use Live TV /DVR functionality extensively - and my only recourse was to downgrade then.
I had hoped the latest public version would see the issue fixed. Ho hum, downgrade time again.

Here is my logs after it crashed again, I also use livetv/dvr functions often as previous people have stated.
hopefully i did this right lol here is my logs probably not though looks too small lol

In the mean time i downgraded to 1.32.8.7621.

I believe the correct process on DSM7 is to uninstall PMS but ensure you select the option to keep files. Then you should be able to re-install the older version and it’ll automatically pick up your existing data directories. Do double check this before doing though!

ALL:

  1. Downgrading Synology is:
    – Uninstall + KEEP FILES (the first radio button)
    – Reinstall lower version

  2. Downgrading QNAP (for those looking)
    – Install the lower version ON TOP OF the existing.
    (DO NOT UNINSTALL)

  3. DVR/TV DMP file.
    – Thank you for this. They can open this in the debugger and see the exact line where the crash occurred.
    – May I also have the Logs ZIP which capture the crash?
(I’ll put both together in the ticket for Engineering.)
I’ve seen reports but have no DVR capability here to test.

Hi @ChuckPa,

Many thanks for this, that’s really helpful.

I believe the logs zip I’ve supplied above should have everything you need (although no explicit reference to a crash that I can see). Do let me know if there’s anything else you need - I’ll hold off downgrading for the next 24 hours in-case you need additional info.

@olinash

I need the DMP and the corresponding ZIP where it was captured.

Am I missing that above ?

@ChuckPa,

Gotcha, please see attached:

Thank you!

I’m writing it up now.

Thanks so much. Could you provide further updates on this thread once engineering have taken a look?

build 7621 or build 7639 ?

Logs show 7639, I see the previous post

I will update once I hear back (unless they jump into the thread for more info)
