New update 1.32.8.7639 crashing randomly on synology nas

Ditto. Can only imagine a tough bug (er) to fix.

I think you might have another issue there.

I’m still using 1.32.5 on my Asustor (because of the crashing issue in 1.32.8 and the broken HW transcoding in 1.32.7 and 1.32.6).

I can use DVR without issues though on 1.32.5, so it should also work for you on 1.32.7.

Hello, I have the same problem, I start PMS and it stops after a few seconds. I check the logs and find the error in preference.xml. Syno DS920+ PMS 1.32.7.7621. The drives are healthy.

1.40.0.7775 on Mac OS still crashing randomly (even when nothing is playing).

What’s the problem you all are finding with Preferences.xml ?

Clearly there’s a problem here which MUST be solved immediately

PMS 1.40.0.7775 has problems . Please don’t use it until fixed.
Stay with 1.32.7 or 1.32.8

In the ā€œstartup crash.logā€ file it says the following: Failed to initialize logging: Error parsing file at "/var/packages/PlexMediaServer/shares/PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml

Please help

Thank you

@evadix

You’re finding the same error others are.

If I open a PM, can you send me your Preferences.xml so I can see the error ?

I’ll reply with it fixed / how to fix it (depending on how badly damaged)

Yes, of course

ver 1.40.0.7997 so far so good

I started having this problem today. Plex stops immediately after starting. I’m on 1.29.2.6364-7000. I tried uninstalling and installing 1.40 but the same thing happened.

You mentioned 1.40 crashed. There are at least three versions of of 1.40. Did you load the latest… 1.40.0.7998 has been stable, for me, since loading.

Yes,
PlexMediaServer-1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8-x86_64_DSM7
I just assumed I should use 64-bit, is that correct?
DS920+

Yes… if your PC is 64-bit

I have been running 1.40.0.7998 for 48 hours. No problems yet…

I’m having trouble identifying which of the 1.40.0.7998 fixes listed in the release notes is related to this crashing problem so many of us had been experiencing with 1.32.8.7639. Does anyone know?
(I appreciate that those who have installed 1.40.0.7998 have been keeping us updated on its stability. I’m still feeling gun shy about doing it. Thanks everybody!)

I was thinking the same thing. Not seen anything with #14691 listed in the release notes.

Pleased to report that server is still behaving running 1.40.0.7998, 4 days now without a hiccup.

Also curious to know what was changed for this version that has made it stable for pvr functions.

Regardless, happy that it’s doing what it’s supposed to!

@ChuckPa Do you happen to have any updates on this? Given the nature of the issue I was expecting this to be fixed in the next release. People running 1.40.0.7988 seem to be reporting it’s fixed but there was no mention of this issue in the release notes. Could you check internally and clarify whether this has been addressed?
Many thanks
