New version 6.4.2.1697 for fire stick gen 1 causes video micro stuttering?

Thank you so much @paulcarless! This was driving me insane. It’s too bad, the new UI was slick with a lot to be liked; however, the stuttering will not be missed.

Just to add to the number of posts.

I also have this problem (as well as a boat load more). Will be sideloading an old version.

Same issue with me. No matter what I watch. First gen fire stick and now stuttering like a mother.

Same here. I can use Kodi to log into the plex server and the videos play fine. I’ll watch this way until they sort it out I guess.

Because of the picture stuttering I purchased a AMAZON Fire TV 4K Smart Box and is using version 6.4.3.1944 and with no stuttering. I have moved my 1st gen Fire Stick to another TV but we need this problem fixed. Maybe Plex should have released the new UI as a separate app rather than having all devices upgraded with this app and upsetting so many Plex users.

Both users I have that use the Fire TV (Original) were having issues with movies refusing to play. The movie would start to cache and then they would get an error that the Client Lost the Connection to the server. Reverted to the old version and it works fine.

Seems like Plex needs more folks to test the FireTV before they send this stuff out to end users.

We’re seeing the same issue. I have it set up for someone that’s not so computer literate so the rollback is probably not an option. She’s pissed about it and I’m not super happy either. Please roll back the release until you can get a functioning version out there! TIA

I have noticed that after prolonged use my 2nd gen fire tv stick has started to have a micro stutter just the same as my first gen, I have found that closing the app and restarting fixes this, does anyone else have this issue.

Not many - just anyone with an AFTV trying to use Plex on it - so it’s probably an acceptable failure rate.

Have the same issues, like all of you.
Tried installing the latest version 6.5.1.2049 (https://goo.gl/8ffYQg) - issue still not fixed for me.

If you don’t mine going back to an older version of plex I re-installed v5-0-0-737 and the stuttering has gone.
Might try later versions when I have the time, but for now it is working for me.

Those are from the Google Play Store. You need the one specific for Fire TV devices which is only available from the Amazon App Store. 6.5.1 should be available in the Amazon Appstore soon.

And does it address the stutter?

We believe the stutters to be caused by memory issues. We’ve addressed some memory issues in that update, which did work in our testing.

Still getting the micro stutter every 10 seconds or so even with new update. Was fine before the UI Update.

Please fix before adding more features like news that nobody wants.

I’m still experiencing the stuttering after updating as well. Cant believe it’s been 20 days already :frowning:

Sorry, but the new version doesn’t fix this issue on the Gen1 FireSticks, if anything id say it made it worse

That may be the case…in which case you need to address your application. The gen 1 Fire Stick has 512MB RAM not reserved by the system, if you can’t make your client application work on that then something is seriously wrong. Guess I’ll stick with the old version for the time being…even though it crashes on launch each and every time.

My firetv stick still studdering like a mofo, no dice with latest update.

Same here, still st-st-stuttering even after the update!!
