New Video player not working without bitstream

Spinning this out to it’s own thread as was initially reported & lost within another.

I believe I’ve found an issue with the new player - at least this is the case for me on an Shield TV 2017.

It related to audio passthrough - I have historically disabled passthrough (even thou’ i would rather not) due to the audio sync delay on my amp when i pause/resume. With passthrough disabled, i.e. with plex/shield doing the audio decoding, audio continues immediately when i resume from pause.

It turns our that with passthrough disabled a lot of my media files are failing to play with the new player - as soon as i set passthrough to HDMI the new player works fine.

A couple of days ago shield auto-updated to the latest plex version - which (for some reason) decided to re-enabled the ‘new video player’ and again the same problem persists - passthru disabled no playback, enabled it works - selected again the old video player and it works both ways!

I’m disappointed not to get feedback on this issue tbh!

Amazing - just got an update for plex on shield, yet again it reverted the option to use new player over old, yet again the problem persists … and no feedback what so ever on this thread!
