I would swear this is new behavior after updating the server. It is possible I am wrong, as I had primarily been trying to use Plex for music, but I am 99.99 percent sure I would have noticed this when testing if Plex could handle video, and I didn’t notice this problem, so I am pretty sure this is new.
No matter what setting I use for subtitles (I had the check box ’ Automatically select audio and subtitle tracks’ unselected, but have since tried every setting permutation underneath that check box on the language tab), I am now seeing subtitles on every single video!
This happens even when the information about what is playing shows ‘none’.
When I manually reselect ‘none’, I get the message ‘there was a problem selecting this stream’.
I can send a log if you can tell me which one might be relevant. I wasn’t able to find anything that looked promising, though I am not sure what I should have been looking for.
Upon further testing, this appears to have been player specific, not server specific.
I tried a number of other devices and so far this problem was only on Plex Media Player, which I understand is being deprecated for Plex for Windows when playing from a Windows PC. I installed Plex for Windows, and the subtitle problem is not present on that app. So it may only have been an issue with PMP.
The same thing happens to me with the update, if I install the previous version, it works well, but when I start the program I have to close the updater !!!, and the 64-bit PLEX version the sound gets weaker, 1 sec every 20 min more or less…
Today’s update broke my ability to change subtitles mid-stream. It gives me a “There was a problem selecting this stream” error. This was not a problem before to this update, and it’s not a problem on the Web App. I always have subtitles enabled by default so I can’t comment on that first part, but I 100% replicated the “there was a problem selecting this stream” error.
edit: 2.52.1 did NOT fix this issue. Looking forward to seeing another update by morning.
edit 2: Actually, I can’t even change AUDIO while a video is playing with this update, again only on PMP
Same problem for me as well, really irritating. Temporarily trying to use the new app until it’s fixed, but as I have a traditional htpc setup it’s nuked my remote. Having to use the android app to control the tv gives a whole new meaning to fighting over the remote
Experiencing the same issue with PMP 25.1 subtitles being forced on without any way to turn them off. Trying to select anything results in “there was a problem selecting this stream”
Hi folks. Are you all using the desktop or TV layout when experiencing problems? The tv layout should be fixed but it wasn’t until yesterday that we discovered the desktop layout issue. I’m working on getting another update out.
