New Web Interface

Me too! The best new feature imho is the ability to force stop playback in the now playing section and write a message to the user!
This gives us server owners a lot more control! So for instance if someone is hugging the bandwith altough you have told him a few times max 8 Mbit/s and no direct play of 25Mbit files you can end his stream with the message: Max 8Mbit/s remember

Gosh this new feature is awesome!

I must be blind in my old age, I am unable to see where the Stop Playback button is. (using Chrome as my browser).

Look at the post above you from OttoKerner.
Status (The heart rate in the top column) → now playing → assuming someone is playing something you should be able to see the preview picture of the movie/tvshow he/she is playing. Now hover with your mouse over it and you can cancel the stream.

I think he’s talking about settings - server - remote access - limit remote stream bitrate.

No. This one:

The Stop Playback is a nice addition, but I have to wonder: if the user is playing a playlist, the Stop Playback command only stops the current item being played. The client briefly (possibly too briefly to be read) sees the message, and then it proceeds to the next playlist item.

Is that what admins want?

@sGarver
To check,
you are using the app.plex.tv address and running PMS v1.4.2 and have restarted your PMS

Am running server version 1.4.2.3400 on Windows 2013r2 and this is what I see (sadly):

and even when I hover over the image, no stop button.

What’s the Plex Web version? Needs to be 3.0.0.

While we’re on Collections, how about adding them to the search results?

Actually they do!

Just throwing in more support for the new Plex Web GUI. It’s absolute perfection, especially all the new info we get on movie view and the art layout. Thank you!

I only miss a few things:

  • Critics’ section is still missing.
  • They need to improve Collections, Related Movies and More in [Genre]. They list almost all Collections, but some are missing. For example, they list the Wong Kar Wai’s informal trilogy as Worg Kar Wai’s Informal Collection, but they don’t list Sokurov’s Tetralogy. Related Movies needs to be more like IMDb, now basically it’s some films from the same director or actors. More in [Genre] is useless, since is not sorted randomly, but alphabetical. So, basically, you’re always seeing the same films.
  • Stop showing the playing next window when you shuffle videos. This is very annoying when you’re watching music videos.
  • There’s no way to play all music videos from one artist.

Other than that, it’s perfect for me too.

(Even though it appears as if playback is still ongoing [might be a bug], but the app is silent).

accessing via plex.tv [app.plex.tv/web/app#!/status/playing].
will try restarting PMS and checking again.

I rely like this feature, just missing one thing that it is automatic after a prolonged pause

A Restart on the PMS server software did the trick. I now see the “Stop playback” button. Thanks! saved me a trip to the eye doctor.

Negative. It most certainly proceeds to the next track in the playlist or queue.

I did this using PMP 1.2.2 as a client playing a playlist. I started a playlist, then in Plex Web I stopped the track. On PMP I saw this for about 2 seconds:

PMP then proceeded to play the next track. I can repeat the process and it just keeps going to the next track.

@OttoKerner We may both be right. Here’s what I’ve found:

Not for me. If I search James Bond I just get an album. It would be nice for Plex to return a result called James Bond Collection. When you select that result it’ll show everything in that collection.
Or does that happen for others already?

Confirmed on PMP. (only in fullscreen/tv mode though)
The windows app store app behaves though, as does Plex Web itself.

This might only work in the newest server version (1.4.2). After a restart and/or ‘optimize database’.

Is there a way to refresh individual libraries? I used to be able to go into TV Shows, for example, and push the little refresh icon to just refresh the TV Shows library. Now, the only refresh option I can find is on the Home page and it’s a Refresh All option, which goes through my thousands of Music files and takes forever. I just want to be able to quickly refresh a single library when new media is added (because the automatic refresh option is so inconsistent).

This confused me too, you have to do it from the main screen. Select the … by whatever library you want to refresh and choose “update library”.

Yeah, this isn’t working with the HW Transcoding version of the server. (Even using plex.tv to launch your own server with Web App 3.0) So if you are running the HW Transcoding version you don’t get any of the new collections functionality until it merges back in.

This is one of the things I was worried about when they make forks of the server for beta testing. Features get added to the main (or the fork) and don’t get whole functionality until every gets put back together again. Hopefully this gets merged before other things get added to the main…

HW Transcoding is major for some people. Just as Collections are. You have a choice which you want to have right now…

Or run one of each
