New Xbox One App preview

Have you tried the suggestion above around changing the Allow Insecure Connection and Prefer Insecure Connection settings in the app?

It looks like I just had an update today (had a new client pop up when first starting the app today) and I now have no sound with any video. Audio MP3 files have audio, and the menu switching in-app sounds are there but no audio with video. How can I go back to a working version? I now can’t watch any Plex content on my main setup. Not nice, I have an Xbox One X and client version shows as 5.1.3.

…and I was liking the update up until sound broke!

Hello there. My plex Xbox app finally force updated and now Tidal is missing… When will it be connected again?

No sound with any video is very unusual. What is your setup like? Try disabling Display Mode Switching in the app settings or disabling Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital Plus.

You can switch back to the old app (for now) by selecting Leave Early Access in the user settings menu.

We’re working on making it available very soon. If need be you can continue to use the non-preview app until it arrives by selecting Leave Early Access in the user settings menu.

My setup goes through a Yamaha RX-A780 receiver then to my TV. I just tried connecting directly to me TV and sound worked. When I plugged back through the receiver sound is now working. Very weird. The receiver must not have been picking up the sound codecs properly or something, but seems very weird that absolutely everything through the Xbox was working fine (games, Netflix, menu sounds, etc.) except for audio for video within the updated Plex app. Anyway, will see how it goes and post again if I have further issues - thanks.

When exiting a TV episode prior to the final credits ending the new app no longer presents a next episode option (which was very convenient). The next episode option is only presented if the episode is played through to the very end and exits without interaction.

Audio within video stopped working again. I disabled Display Mode Switching and that has sound working again. Not sure what that’s about as I’ve not had that issue with any of the Plex Xbox clients prior to 5.1.3.

The Xbox updated itself the other night and I’ve been pretty happy with it.
This morning i was listening to music on shuffle. after maybe an hour, the song ended and then nothing. i turned around to see that the app had closed itself. i started it up again, set the music to shuffle and it started to play. i didn’t want to listen to the song so i pressed next on the media remote and the app closed.
i fired it up again and so far it’s working again but thought i should report this as it has never happened before and shouldn’t have happened.
thanks for all your work
update…it keeps happening. when i press next on the media remote, the app closes seems to only happen when playing music. i opened a TV show and pressed next 6 or 7 times and it worked as it should. went back to play music, opened a song and the app closed. something’s wrong…

The home button doesn’t work and I have to use the B button to back out to the main plex menu. The home button is the one with the 2 windows on it, across from the button with the 3 lines.

I’ve been having similar issues with it saying my server is offline unless I reboot the plex server every time I launch plex in the xbox one. Also after I revert it keeps going the the preview which is annoying.

I also don’t like that it wants to pull up plex provided stuff before what I have put on my plex server.

Edit: Funny, right after I posted this, everything started working. Whatever app update I thought I saw pushed this morning must have done something. I will report back if things change.

I am also having issues with no sound with a Yamaha receiver in the mix. At first I thought it was just some movies, but I was able to get the sound to work by exiting the app and reseting the server and starting over. Then the next day I tried the same file and could not get sound even after 3 similar resets. I saw an update to the plex app app this morning and I don’t see an option to Leave Early Access… (White Xbone with Yamaha RX-V685

zeecarr: I had exactly the same issue with no video sound with my Yamaha receiver. Turning off Display Mode Switching has addressed the issue for me for now.

Thanks 13Tech. Mine stopped working again and it did seem to be file dependent on whether there was sound or not. I turned off Display Mode Switching in the Plex Client menu and that seems to have fixed it!

App looks great but all of my movies are now stuttering with glitchy horizontal artifacts throughout. Unwatchable. Left preview and old app plays everything fine.

I’m still having an issue on Early Access with Home Users not not having the option to Automatically Sign in. The option isn’t even there at all. Any idea why this may be happening?

I love the interface redesign and the skip intro button, but since moving to the app preview, I have had a plethora of playback issues (excessive buffering and freezing and skipping ahead a minute or so in the playback). I have also experienced issues with starting items and not being able to start the item I am trying to play. I would be willing to go back to the app preview after an update.

So I kind of dig the new interface more quickly than I expected (Being afraid of change and all ;P), but there are two things so far I’m not loving. I’ve been using an Xbox Media Remote for watching movies, and with this new update the functionality had changed.

The fast forward now serves as a “Skip” button, where it used to actually Fast Forward at progressively greater speeds, a feature which appears to be gone. Which is disappointing since the skip feature is already mapped to the Direction Buttons, so it’s just duplicating those now.

Also, the subtitle offset feature has vanished. Which is unfortunate, since my baby is getting noisier and the quality / sync of downloaded subtitles varies Wildly from movie to movie. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Outside of that, I’m otherwise enjoying it so far.

The new preview is frustrating! I had to leave, because it was difficult to get to my Plex content. The home screen is all the extra Plex BS (podcasts, “Learn Something New”, etc.)

I didn’t buy Plex for all that extra crap, I bought it for my content. Why is the home screen all this extra BS and I have to go to “More” then choose my server then choose a library…

I DO NOT want to start with your stuff, I want to browse my stuff.
