Hi, newbie here. Just downloaded Plex Windows server on my brand new laptop. Laptop is connected to a network. however I only want to use Plex on my laptop and my Roku device. I also just purchased a Plex pass lifetime. Plex does not come up directly on my laptop unless I go to the website. Trying to load or save my personal media to Plex.
Because the Windows Server does not come up can I uninstall it and reinstall it without having to repay for Plex? Or do I have to reinstall the whole program? I can’t afford to pay again.
My new laptop is a Asus vivobook Windows 11 home SSD 256 with 8TB Seagate hub plus which can be disconnected from the laptop from time to time. please help.
I understand that. thank you. my issue is the server is not showing up on my new laptop therefore I cannot load my personal media. it’s almost like the Windows server for computers is hanging. so do I have to reload the program or just the Windows server for laptops in desktops? all I get is a black screen and a spinning icon.
from what I’m gathering from what you said. If I have to reload the program or the Windows Server onto my PC I do not have to repay because I have a lifetime pass correct?
When I click on the Plex server windows nothing happens and it brings me back to the home screen of my laptop. also there is no desktop icon. I have to go to my apps on this PC list in order to find the Plex server.
I will uninstall the Plex server, and then go to the website to install again. Hopefully this was healthy issue. I will let you know what happens and thank you for your assistance.
There’s 2 parts to this. The server which runs in the background and then a browser or app you use to view Plex
The installation of the server alone gives you nothing to look at. The only indication the server is actually running is a small Plex icon down in your taskbar
If you have installed the Plex server already follow my directions above
