Newbie WD Mycloud Home / Mac question

Server Version#:1.32.0.6981
Player Version#:

Hi
Firstly, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, but this is my first time on the forum.

I have my films/tv shows etc on a My Cloud home stored within the Plex folder on this drive. Up until last week, I was able to access the films through Plex on anything connected to my home network, even if my Mac was shut down. Last week Western Digital had some sort of data breach and they shut off the internet access to the drive via their apps etc. Now, WD have allowed Local Network Access connection to the drive and I can access the folders after mapping the drive on the Mac, but Plex could not see the drive. After altering some of the setting in Plex, I have managed to point Plex at the mapped drive and I can now access all content. The issue is, if my Mac goes to sleep, or I shut it down, then I can not access content on iPad/Tv unless I go and wake the Mac. This did not used to be the case and the Mac status never interfered with the accessing of the MCH.
Can anyone help as to what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks

Sounds like you might have had a second server running right on the WD MyCloud Home.
If the machine hosting your server (Mac) is down, you cannot access that server – there’s no way around that.

This will be a different issue if the Plex Media Server on your Mac was actually running and just asleep. In that case the server should be able to wake up when you try to connect from one of the apps.
