Hi All - Love Plex! I have been a Plex Pass holder for 6+ years. I especially love the latest updates that allow for aesthetic customization and the addition of trailers/extras. All great stuff.
On that note, I have a quick question. Before I add a movie to my Plex library, I spend time creating a detailed .nfo file containing most of the information that I want displayed: plot summary, ratings, genres, tags, etc. I also spend time selecting a movie poster and background art. I want the info in my .nfo to be used by Plex, but then also have Plex add cast photos, add trailers, and add extras. Is there a way to do this?
I’ve played (a lot) with all the various settings (scanners, agents, local media assets, etc.), and what I find is that if I want my .nfo file to be used, then I need to select “XBMCnfoMovieImporter” as my Agent, but doing so means that I no longer get cast photos, trailers, or extras. Alternatively, I can select “Plex Movie” as my Agent which results in all those cool extras (cast photos, trailers, and extras), but then my personally curated content in the .nfo file is replaced with plot summaries/genres/ratings from The Movie Database or IMDB.
Is there some perfect setting within Plex that allows me to use the content of my .nfo file, and also allow me to get the cast photos, trailers, and extras?
Thanks - Go Plex!
