Hi there - I have the Plex app for macOS desktop (latest ver.). I cannot figure out how to add my files at all. On the app I click “Your Media” which then tells me I need the Plex media server, which I have installed and uninstalled about 3 times now. however there’s nothing on there to get it to add media there either.
Below are screenshots of what I have on the app itself, what shows up in the media server drop down menu, and what comes up in the web app. I feel like a total moron that I can’t figure it out. Thanks
2 ways to get there:
1. The Main navigation
- Click
More >in the main navigation - Hover your mouse over the server name – that’ll bring up a
+icon and the vertical...to access the server’s context menu. - Click
+to add a new library
2. Settings
- Go to
Settings > [your server] > Manage > Libraries - Click
Add Library
I can’t even see my server when I click into my settings - just “install plex media server” which i have done.

did you complete the setup wizard and link this server to your account?
It never came up and I can’t figure out how to get it to come up

Might be related to the blocker extensions you have installed in your Safari.
Can you open Plex in a vanilla version of Chrome or Firefox -> https://127.0.0.1:32400/web
If that’s not it we’ll have to run you through the basic troubleshooting
I’m having the same exact issue…
I am having the same problems on Win 10 Pro. I never saw the startup script.
And I do not see server name.
