i dont have a download icon for movies on my installed pc plex app… i have a lifetime plex pass. i do i download movies either to my pc or to my plex media server?

You can rip discs you own using MakeMKV or similar tools. Name the files according to Plex requirements, then add them to your server.
You can acquire media by other means, some of which cannot be discussed on the forum.
Movies, including digital copies, from streaming services such as Amazon, Netflix, etc. are encrypted with DRM. Plex cannot play DRM encrypted media files.

The movie streams from your Plex Media Server to their device running a Plex app - TV, streaming stick, mobile phone, etc.
