Do you know if this might address not being able to start live TV from the beginning while recording or freezing if paused for too long
We are aware of those issues and they’re investigated by the server team, as it seems they’re not isolated to the Android client.

Hey all, I know this is for Sony, but any info on Fire TV Stick? It is currently doing the exact same thing, I can see what’s on now, but not the guide, same error.

OK, new problem here for me at least. Posting here because there seems to be some folks here that are paying attention.
During live tv and during playback everything starts out fine, but then starts stuttering and then eventually freezes. This is on a 2017 Nvidia Shield.
I"m giving up and at least for now I will be moving my tasks to the “Live Channels” App. Yes it is inferior software except for one thing, it works.
I will wait anxiously to see if these issues get resolved in the next update, and before another “feature” like “Tidal” that no one seemed to be asking for gets added to Plex.

What are you using as your Plex Media Server? If a Windows 10 Check your CPU when playing live TV let me know if you get any spikes. Also are you using Hardware transcoding? I have a 2017 and 15 Nvidia shield and have not experienced that problem. I get once in a blue moon a freezes but it recovers right away.
I have been running the server on the Nvidia shield since January 2018, 18 months of smooth live viewing as well as smooth viewing of recordings without this issue until this latest update. I appreciate very much your offer to help. My hope is that the team just rushed this last update to meet the EPG change over deadline and that these issues will get resolved eventually
Yeah I don’t know much about the Nvidia Shield Plex server. The only thing I could think of it may be clearing your cache. Don’t know if that would help. Just updated to the Nvidia Shield beta app a couple hours ago and it’s running real smooth. If you don’t see a resolution the next couple days I’d recommend starting the thread dedicated to it so people can jump in that are having the same issue.

Both Plex Server and Live Channels came pre-installed on the Shield; its why I bought it. Prior to that I ran a home theater PC with Beyond TV/ Snapstream for about 14 years. Live Channels App is not great for features but at least it is playing live and recordings without the stuttering and eventual freezing that I am currently experiencing with Plex.
The shield freezing during playback is a known/common issue when it is doing HW transncoding i.e. not direct playing with HW transcode enabled. If it is direct playing, then something is weird. Could be a ton of things then.

I can’t answer your question, but you should join the party. Just click on the link below and in 24 hours you’ll get a Plex beta update available in your Play Store.
The rollout will start on Monday and should be released to everybody by Wednesday/ Thursday (11st of July), assuming nothing major shows up that will prevent us to do so.
You can still download the apk from our beta page and sideload it on your device, if you just want it this time only.
(As a note, we don’t process the beta requests daily, so it might take a bit to be added to the list.)

Are you able to quickly point me to the correct settings in the Shield server? If not I understand. Things were fine but I started poking around in the settings trying to get the guide back and may have set something. Thanks in advance!
Either the post right above download the file and install on your Nvidia Shield using a file manager. Or click on the link below put your email in and then it will automatically provide you with an update in the Play Store for plex to download. Just make sure you use your Google Play Store email when signing up for the beta program.
Settings->Transcoder->Deselect “use hardware acceleration when available”
Note: transcoding performance will be significantly reduced. It most likely won’t be able to transcode i.e. watch real time 1080i or higher…but it won’t crash.

I run my Plex Media Server on a Synology NAS (DSM 6+). v1.16 of PSM broke the Guide. I rolled back (uninstalled Plex and re-installed the older version) to v1.15.8.1198 and the Guide is back. In v1.16+ the button inside the Live TV area that shows the guide is marked “Guide” in v1.15 that same button is marked “Channels.”
The guide info is there in the web and mobile (android) clients. I only see “No Items to Display” on the ShieldTV.
Where can I find PMS 1.15 version for Ubuntu? Can anybody share some link with the package?
Still nothing on my end - running PMS on NVIDIA Shield v 1.16.1.1291 (smb) and EPG still empty.
Are the updates being rolled out per country/geo region? In Canada and currently see no available updates.
