The new direction has the apps checking “Am I Remote” and then Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass. So you need a near perfect DNS and Network configuration to function which is why your server logs will answer most of the “why it’s not working”.
OP sounds like his cert didn’t renew and is unclaimed, but again logs.
