no longer possible to sync locally to my windows plex media player?

Hi, I have a question. I had issues syncing new content to my plex media player that I had installed on my windows 10 laptop. this was the version that is readily available in the windows store.

After stumbling around a bit unsuccessfully I did the following

  1. removed the program from my windows laptop
  2. removed it as a device from my plex media server
  3. downloaded the app from the plex website with plexpass versions on

this app looks different than the one from windows store… however it does not allow me anywhere to say I want to sync a certain movie or tv episode to the local drive

When I go online to the plex media server, I can still opt to sync however then the windows laptop is not included as a possible destination to sync to… even after installing and signing in the new app.

totally confused… how can I sync to my laptop? I always use this functionality for long flights.

Please let me know if you can help

the windows app I am using is plex media player for windows 1.3.4.670-1d4f6da1
the server is on my sinology diskstation and is 1.5.5.3634-995f1dead

thanks

thanks! I appreciate your super swift reply! can you explain to me why they co exist? I actually downloaded the player as some of the synced items refused to play on the windows app store plex version. Maybe this was the case because I had them synced as ‘original’ and not transcoded but could not figure it out… when would one use the plex media player? I must admit the look and feel of that one is much newer.

will definitely update my server now as well

thanks

I will try to reencode them by syncing and not selecting original but another quality which will force a transcode and see if that helps
