No music playback after TV off / device sleep on Shield?

I frequently leave my Nvidia Shield to play music from Plex in the other room, while working room next door (I like to have background music from the other room, for the feeling of having a company at home). If, after having played the selected album, the device goes to sleep and/or TV turns off (not sure which one is the actual trigger), then I try to play another album, there is no playback sound. Interface sounds (button “clicks”) are just fine, it’s just the selected music which does not play. Plex interface is showing as-if the music was playing, but there is no sound coming out at all. I tried with and without audio passthrough and this setting does not make a difference. The music is from Plex media server I have on a Linux server next to me, where I keep my ripped CDs (FLAC).

I suspect this is a player bug, because one workaround I was able to find is to “force stop” Plex app and then start it again.

Am I the only one to experience this?

What version of the Plex app do you have? This sounds like an old issue that should have been fixed.

It’s 7.23.0.13018

That’s a really old version. Please check the Play store on the Shield and update to the latest.

Thank you, that fixed it! I am little surprised than the 2020 model of Nvidia Shield comes with old versions of software pre-installed but that’s entirely different discussion.

Thanks again!
