No plugins and PMS Crash

I’m having allot of trouble that has continued after a complete re-install. I had not used Plex for a week and prior to that it was working fine, I have done nothing to my iMac in the previous week that would in my opinion caused a conflict with Plex to create these issues. The first issue is all the plugins disappearing except iTunes. They all show up when I open Plex but none of them actually work. Then when you leave and return to any plugins menu you will only see the iTunes plugin and no others. Now I don’t see any plugins even after wiping and reinstalling Plex and choosing the plugins from the initial setup menus. I had this problem before and disabling compatibility checking would fix it, but now it has no effect.

The other issue I pared down to the media scanner crashing during TV scans. I’ve done a database wipe and let PMS scan the TV series but it’s only download maybe 1-3 show’s metadata and saying complete. Un-matched shows could be forced to update via “Fix Incorrect Match” or “Match Using >” or re-scanning the section but I’m not pressing that button 200+ times. Manual scans would sometimes cause PMS with no crash report generated in the console. Other times it will work. Refreshing the database would only get the first un-matched show in the list to download metadata, but then says it’s completed after just that one show.

The attached logs and scanner crash report are of a media scan from an empty database on one media drive. PMS matches about 3 show and then stops saying it’s complete. It actually only matches the first 2 season of Black Books despite all 3 being in the list.

I’ve also noticed that after this re-install (actually 2 re-installs) that Front Row in now stating up from the remote instead of Plex.

Move the Black Books series out of your TV Folder and see if that helps.

Black Books isn't the problem here, the problem is the scanner crashing. It just happens that the scanner got up to Black Books Season 3 when it stopped each time I was scanning for scratch. After that I had to manually re-scan the section. PMS will download the metadata and posters for the next series in the list and then stop. Meaning I have to get PMS to scan each series 1 by 1.

Also considering this fault only affects a TV section (Movies scanned fine first, not noted in original post, sorry) **AND** remains even after completely wiping Plex off the system (with Appzapper) **AND** re-installing indicates this is something much more serious.

So am I correct in saying that you have not tried scanning without Black Books " It just happens that the scanner got up to Black Books Season 3 when it stopped each time I was scanning for scratch" This sentence leads me to believe that it is indeed Black Books that is the problem. I have had scanner issues as well, Every time it was because a file name crashed the scanner. If the scanner encounters a “bad” file, it will not continue past it.

Also, Movie scanner and TV scanner are different python files. They work independently of each other AND since this happens every time on the same show **AND **even after a complete wipe and reinstall, to me, at least points to this being the simplest problem, at least one worth a shot. If the 10 minutes it takes to try this and repost the Plex.log, Plex Media Server.log, and Plex Media Scanner.log if it does fail is too much effort, than I apologize for trying to waste your time.

Black Books scans fine, it just happened to be my example that it would stop half way though a show. The 3rd season would download it's metadata on the next manual scan just like every following season would one by one. I have done an initial scan using my 2nd media drive thus skipping it and the same thing happens. The problem is the scanner crashing after 3 series on an initial scan on a newly created section and then after 1 series on every manually initiated scan.

The problem is also described in [this post](http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/22378-and-then-there-where-none-postersmatches/). This person noticed this problem only started last week or so too. But for me, deleting the TVDB bundle to force an upgrade hasn't helped. My series always get matched when I use "Fix Incorrect Match" to force a metadata download.

IF I can be bothered to re-install again I'll re post all the logs.

I do apologize for my snarkiness. Frustration shrapnel if you will.
