No Remote Access Outside My Network (iMac)

Server Version#: 4.28.3
Player Version#: any

All of a sudden today, I cannot access the system outside of the local network. Everything is as it has been for months; it just stopped working. I noticed that all of the configurations for the libraries list on the left has been rest to alphabetical. Nothing seems to work except on the local network. Any ideas?

Have you checked if you can still reach the public IP address of your router at tcp port 32400 (or the port you defined for remote access if you’re using a manual port forward)? You can use a service like canyouseeme.org for that
If that‘s not working… have you double checked the remote access settings of your Plex Media Server and (if you’re using a manual port forward) the settings of your home network (e.g. IP reservation, port forward still in place…)?

I’m having much the same issue, the exception is I’ve never got it to work more than a few minutes. (I’m not trying to do a ton with it currently but I do want it to work. My ISP doesn’t provide much uplink bandwidth, but I should be able to do a stream of SD. I will be moving and I’ll be able to do more.)

Canyouseeme.org sees the port as open.
The router has the correct port forwarding in place. Currently using uPnP, but have the same issue even when I set a manual port.

Every time I retry, it’ll come back up and briefly say Remote Access is enabled, then usually within less than a second, says “not available outside your network”. There have been moments of it being working for a few minutes, but it eventually always goes back to “not available outside your network”. Meanwhile canyouseeme.org still sees the port as open.

What can I check next?

If it actually works… ignore the status indicator. It’s been known to be a little unreliable from time to time

I believe if you clear the Browser used for Plex, cache, cookies, history. Your remote access indicator will work as designed. Sometimes it will indicate red on first looking but just refresh the Browser page.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn’t change the behavior.

Also, I have been working with a friend of mine on it. Just like canyouseeme.org shows an open port, he can ping it. Also, I shared my library with him. He can see the individual libraries, but he can’t get into them. I’ve made sure that he’s set up to see them.

In addition, using my phone and turning off WiFi, I can also connect to it and see the individual libraries, but like my friend, they’re greyed out and won’t let me select any of them to see the content.
