Have two unix servers running , the first one works like a charm on remote port 32400, the second one is on 32401, but im having major problems having the 2nd server to be stable remotely . Port is opened on the router, but it keeps saying its not available remotely, even though I can reach it from outside my network.
If I press the button to retry remote access, the server is gone and I can only access it via internal ip via LANIP:32400/web . Then I can retry remote access and its online again.
This may be a typo but I thought I’d ask. You’d said , “If I press the button to retry remote access, the server is gone and I can only access it via internal ip via LANIP:32400/web .”
32400 or 32401? Are you sure the second server is on port 32401?
But its only external ports that you need to define? Standard is 32400, but if you add another server , the external port has to be different , so 32401 is for my 2nd server .
Thats also what the link you provided tells me
So all is ok from here, except that the second server keeps getting not available outside the network , even though it actually is .
Rather odd, but streaming works just fine. But it I try to Force the port again in the settings, server is gets the status unavailble . Then I can only access it via Lan ip:32400/web .
when it says that it means that plex.tv tried to ping your server and could not reach it. Individual clients may have working connection data cached which is still working, but not sure how you are reaching it in that case. is thig you manually typing in externalIP:32401/web
Yes, a firewall is a pretty common reason for failure
Firewall, VPN, Anti-virus
Turn everything off for testing.
Use a port checking tool like this before and after you disable everything
If you can access it outside your network even though Plex says you have no remote access, you’re probably getting a relay connection that will say “indirect” in your server dashboard when you play something
This generally means everything is set up properly in the router, the port is just being blocked by something like the things I just mentioned
I get the same results you’re experiencing if I enable my VPN and forget to exclude Plex using the split tunnel feature
After (if) you can get a good remote connection that stays green in Plex reenable everything one by one until it fails again. Then you’ll know where to focus your attention
