Hi Samsung Forums
Samsung TV (2013) & Orca’s Plex App
I’ve been using Orca’s Plex client on my Samsung TV (UE46F6500) since 2013 and I, until now, stuck with an old version of PMS (1.8.3.4235 ) on W10 as I had nightmarish subtitle sync issues. By and large it worked pretty well for over six years over powerline wired Ethernet.
Two days ago ( June 01/02) I could not authenticate to the Plex Web Server (along with others) to access the PMS server. I came back 36 hours later and authentication was working. But at the Client my Samsung TV App said the PMS was unavailable.
Reading suggested that I remove and reinstall the Plex App from the Samsung TV Smart Hub and reinstall. Then, if no change, the PMS on W10. (The PMS has now been upgraded to 1.19.4.2902.)
I removed the Samsung TV App (2.012 or 2.013) from the Samsung TV. When I went to download & reinstall from the Samsung Apps page… the app had vanished…it’s not there.
Samsung support say that the Plex app has been deprecated (only because its not there!) on 2013 Samsung TVs (and I guess pre Tizen models). I did a complete factory reset on the Samsung TV. No difference. No Samsung TV app.
How can I obtain a copy of Orca’s Plex TV app …2.012 or 2.013 to sideload?
Is there an idiot’s guide to side loading this app?
I really subscribe to KISS …shall I save myself a world of pain and buy a streaming stick with wired Ethernet connectivity or better get a new TV ?
(It rankles that Samsung’s evident lack of green credentials should force a new TV on me)
Thanks for reading and any constructive advice.
