Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: latest in Samsung App Store
As of the last day I’ve been having issues with loading plex app on my tv, even when I removed the app and reinstalled it, it took a good 10 mins to download 17 mb size… while my internet is 1GB and TV is hardwired.
I used to be able to watch many tv shows and movies, now plex will show loading when I open the app and after a good while it exits, and after many tries it loads up and I can’t play any movie or tv show, it freezes immediately and I would have to turn tv off…
This started to happen yesterday morning, not sure if there was an update on plex media for Samsung TVs or something… the fact crackle app loaded on my tv instantly and was able to open it with no issue tells me something went wrong with plex and not my tv.
I’ve unplugged my TV for a good 1 min then opened the app up, it took a while then it opened up, this is the version of TV and app
I was wondering if you had managed to resolve your problem with the Orca Plex app not working?
I found that after installing the latest PMS update version 1.19.2.2673, my Samsung app no longer worked. Mine will load and then freeze upon loading the sidebar. I am unable to scroll, select or navigate to the settings menu.
I have tried rolling back my PMS to test my theory, but it won’t let me install a previous version of PMS from the updates folder. I have also tried uninstalling, turning off the TV and re-installing the Orca Samsung app to no avail.
Hopefully they will have this fixed soon, as the Orca app is far better than the Fire TV app that I am having to use instead. The Fire TV app is slow, buggy and buffers even though streaming for every other device I have is great! But I guess that’s a flaw with the cheap Fire TV stick.
As the Orca app is not the official Plex app (So I believe), they may not even fix this. We may need to wait for a rollout of the next Orca update. If of course there will ever be another one.
I shall turn off all my devices for the night and hope that the fairies come and sort it out during the night.
In the post above yours, click on the link which has what is most likely the solution to getting your app working again with the latest server release.
Unfortunately this did not work for me. Secure connections was already set to ‘Preferred’ and the ‘Disable weak TLS versions’ box was already unticked as per the advice given in the post above mine.
Would it be possible to edit the subject of this topic to refer to the Orca client or Samsung 2015 tv? Helps to differentiate posts when looking at the forum view
Ok, so I managed a work around this morning. Follow the steps below -
Check first to see if you are running PMS version 1.19.1.2645 (Public) or version 1.19.2.2673 (Beta). If the latter, follow the steps below and for the former the steps given in @darcilicious post above.
Unfortunately, the instructions given above to set the Secure connections to ‘Preferred’ and leaving the ‘Disable weak TLS versions’ box unticked does not work for version 1.19.2.2673.
First I had to change the ‘Server update Channel’ in PMS Settings/General to ‘Public’, roll back my PMS and perform a server update to 1.19.1.2645.
You will find previous versions of PMS in ‘C:\Users*YOURNAME*\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates’. You will need to allow to show hidden files and folders to access AppData.
You need to then uninstall PMS from your PC using Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall Program. DON’T WORRY, you will not lose your settings or media! Do not use any other program but your Windows built in ‘Uninstall Program’ to uninstall and DO NOT use a registry cleaner like CCleaner to clean the registry.
Once uninstalled and with a previous PMS update in ‘C:\Users*YOURNAME*\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates’, install Plex. Once installed restart your PC. This is not necessary, but just to be safe, I did.
Once booted up, open PMS and update PMS to 1.19.1.2645 (Public - Make sure you are not installing the Beta version or you’ll be back to square one).
Make sure to set the Secure connections to ‘Preferred’ and leaving the ‘Disable weak TLS versions’ box unticked.
Test your Samsung TV Plex Orca app and it SHOULD now work.
