No server found, tried everything

Hi,

I installed plex on my new NAS (DS718+), and it worked great ! I decided to test Plex Pass in order to access the hardware transcode. But the option wasn’t showing up in the menu. So i decided to restart plex and since i’m unable to connect to the plex server

I know this is a common issue but i tried everything i found on the internet and on this forum.

I followed all the actions suggested in the FAQ on the website AND on this forum.

I delogued from everywhere, relogued, I restarted plex, reinstalled it completely (deleting plex folder and user), rebooting between the uninstall and reinstall. I deleted preference.xml…etc

Please help me, when i’m connecting to http://myserver:32400/web it always shows no server found. And so i have no access to the server menu to connect it to my account

PS : ofc i’m using the package from plex and not from the package center of synology

PPS : don’t redirect me to an FAQ, i read all of them, the Read Me First to

That does not work, I have the same problem. Could not see some folders so decided to reinstall and after that it lost the NAS. With me too after signing up for PLEX Pass.

I did a total reinstall of my Synology NAS btw (DS918+), totally fresh installed. Because it was still not used, reckoned that some of the settings were stil on it and that this surely would fix everything since it also worked when I first fresh installed it but to no avail.

Could the change of name maybe have something to do with it? Changing the user name from e-mail to login name.

Hi, as said PAKNAS, this do not work

Following your advise i installed plex from the admin account, but this didnt change anything

I sent you in private the log file showing the start of plex and my attempt to connect

maybe it’s important to say that i’m not in local, but as i’m connecting to plex by a VPN hosted on the NAS (and so i’m taping 192.168.x.x:32400 on the browser), and so i don’t think this change something.

Thank you 1000 times !

It worked using an SSH tunnel

You may need to make it more clear, i think it will help a lot of users !

Adding this fact in this page https://support.plex.tv/articles/204604227-why-can-t-the-plex-app-find-or-connect-to-my-plex-media-server/ would be a good idea imo

Thanks again !

Second problem now : i cannot see the hardware transcoding option. I’m going to Settings > Server > Transcoder in advanced mode and the option “Use hardware acceleration when available” isnt there
I have a DS718+, it comes with an intel celeron J3455 wich is capable of quick sync video… (i have the last plex version 1.13.2.5154 available on plex website)

Yes, the name of the file i installed is “PlexMediaServer-1.13.2.5154-fd05be322-x86_64.spk”

But i’ve made the verification it’s the file plex website is giving me when i click on the intel 64bits package…

What should i do to force the instal of a 64bit version ? Because as the name of the file suggest it, it containt the 32 and 64 versions

1 Stop PMS
2. Uninstall the existing package (there is no harm in doing so)
3. Manually install the 64 bit SPK
4. It will start
5. Sign out and back into your Plex account
6. Settings - Server - Transcoder
7. Check for hardware transcoder option.
8, If not, obtain fresh logs please

I reinstalled the spk but i think it’s still the 32bits…

I don’t understand why ? Is it possible that i have a 32bits version of DSM ?

here’s the log
Plex Media Server Logs_2018-07-04_02-28-44.zip (1.9 MB)

Link is broken

So, i’ve done the full reinstallation with the deletion of the plex folder and the plex user and the hw option appeared !

Thanks a lot, all is working fine !

Have a good day
