No Skip Intro Option on NVIDIA Shield

Hello, I can’t seem to find a post about this. I use an NVIDIA Shield to access my Plex Library. For some reason, the Skip Intro feature is not working. The option doesn’t pop up at all. I know my server has scanned and identified the intros, because when I watch the same episode with the MacOS app, the option is there. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935
Player Version#: I can’t find it on NVIDIA Shield, but I just downloaded it yesterday so it should be the most recent

FYI, if you go to Settings, the version number is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Must be 8.0.1 or newer for this feature.

It says it’s 8.1.1 so I don’t understand why it won’t work…

Are you using the old Plex player? The skip intros weren’t working for me either until I used the new player. I was using the old Plex player, since the new one still can’t play 2 part movies right (that’s a whole other story).

Anyway, Plex switched me to the new player on it’s own without me noticing. I played a TV episode, and the skip intro showed up. Once I switched back to the old player, it didn’t show up anymore. So, for me at least, the skip intros only work on the new Plex player. Now if only they would finally fix the 2 part movie issue…

Yeah, I’ve had similarly bad experiences with the new player.
Won’t play some content (seems to be a problem with some audio codecs?) and the mobile client navigation is broken. A shame as the skip intro feature is pretty sweet. I’m sure it’ll get fixed in time…

I’m using the new player, latest version of Shield app and Server. Skip intro has never been available once.
What I noticed is that every morning my server is still “detecting intros”, that started at 2am during the scheduled tasks, it seems stuck, so maybe it never manage to really detect intro and the issue is on the server side.

@hovdog by old Plex player are you referring to the Plex client? It is the most recent version on the Google Play store on the Shield.

I have found that if I click down on the remote, most of the time Plex will make the intro into its own chapter, so I can just click on the chapter that follows the intro, but still nothing saying “Skip Intro” appears, and I think thats what they mean by Skip Intro Feature

He is referring to the setting in the app to enable the new player which is required for most new features.
