No soup for you, fresh installation on restored Synology

Server Version#:1.25.2.5319
Player Version#:Web browser

I recently had to do a full restore of my Synology NAS. After the restore, the Plex package was not installed. So I downloaded the latest server package from Plex and installed it manually on my Synology. I’ve followed all the steps I’ve done before, manual install and giving permissions to the PlexMediaServer user on my desired shares.

When I launch Plex (connected to my Synology via a VPN which has never ever been an issues accessing Plex before, and I’m connecting to Plex via the host IPAddress:32400), it has be log in to an empty Home Screen. When I click on Your Media to “add media to your Plex” it prompts me to Get Plex Media Server. This is the Plex media server, telling me to get the Plex media server.
I cannot get a prompt to add my files to Plex. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, and rebooted multiple times. Every time I get this result or it gives me “no soup for you, you do not have access to this server”. Both issues I cannot get resolved and I’m not sure I’ll get any response from Plex since they don’t appear to have a any Customer Support structure even if you pay for Plex.

The initial setup has to be done locally, from a system on the same subnet.

If you are remote, you can use an SSH tunnel to make it appear you are on the console.

See the On a Different Network section of the Installation support document.

I am in the same boat as you here. I am trying to move away from a PC/external HD to my new Synology system.

I cannot get past the same issues mentioned above.

I followed their steps, opening the new browser and going to the given address is unresponsive.

At the same time, the terminal prompt is posting the following:

’ channel 4: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 3: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 3: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 4: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 3: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 3: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 4: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 3: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 3: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

channel 4: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed

I was able to get this resolved using an “outside the box” idea.

I connected my Synology to another remote Synology I have set up via vpn, i then connected to that same remote Synology via vpn. This mimicked me being in same network as original Synology.

Original direct vpn connection doesn’t put us on same subnet. Having us both connect to the same vpn puts us on same subnet and I was able to compete initial Plex setup remotely. Once that was done I am now able to fully access Plex server unhindered with no vpn setup needed.
