hi, I put in another hdd in my htpc and installed windows 10. Then I installed plex server and plex player. Now the plex player doesn’t have the TV mode where I can set the audio to 7.1 mode. Now my avr sees the movie as 2 channel only where as before it seen it as 7.1 or atmos. How do I set the plex player as 7.1?
Install PMP from here instead:
Thanks for the links. The second last link is for windows and doesn’t look for updates. It’s in .img format and is over 500mb? My computer says there is something wrong with it and can’t even mount it. Is there an .exe version of that file?
The second last link you found is not for windows, it’s for embedded
Edited,…the post for the latest downloads has changed.
See @darcilicious post below
The latest (non-beta) versions will be posted in this thread:
does this new 2.44.0 version still have the TV mode?
Yes it does (at least on my mac), so should be the same on windows
Plex Media Player will always have TV Mode.
Plex for Windows / Plex for Mac desktops will not.
ok I see. didn’t know there were different types of players. so for windows player, is there a way to have it in 7.1 mode?
No, for HTPC like features, you will need to keep using PMP.
That’s what all ‘The Fuss’ was about - and why PMP is going to stick around - for a while (no death sentence pending).
why don’t they give the option for 7.1 audio for plex for windows/macs?
Apparently that’s not as easy as it seems to mere users (or they would have done it already)… and why Plex is keeping PMP around a while (no death sentence pending).
another problem i have is that my PMS has a few different severs with the same name. one of them it say is online and the are are offline. it doesn’t let me delete them. how do I clean that up?
@darcilicious <—that’s a good question for ‘lucious’…
Not sure, I’m not the best server person to ask. I recommend starting a new thread here https://forums.plex.tv/c/plex-media-server/computers and tag it with the appropriate OS platform that you have PMS installed on.
done. here’s the thread.
