Non network DVR connection?

I haven’t been able to find an answer on google or forum search so hoping someone can answer ‘howto’. I have a working Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner working with Kaffeine and me-tv on ubuntu 16.04. this is the same machine plex is also installed on. Plex appears to be looking for a network card, mine is simply installed with no pvr software and no network tv capability. my question: what is plex looking for when it ‘searches’ for you card? Appears to be an IP search which in my case returns nothing because it doesn’t exist on the network. Do I have to install a network pvr software for it to work? Appreciate any advice!

No, you dont need to install any network software. If it’s one of the supported tuners, it will automagically show up when you click ‘add tuner’. If its not, it won’t show up.

If you have one of the supported ones and it doesn’t work, give us the Pex Media Server.log and the Plex Tuner Service.log and we can take a look.

Ah Ok! I see the issue. Looks like all the supported Hauppauge devices are USB . Mine’s a PCI based card (HVR-1600) so I guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed that plex starts supporting more Hauppauge cards soon.

I hope so too. have a few of HVR-1600s currently plus i would rather keep it internal to PC as i have 2 of these. Both work fined with VLC as well.
