Not a fan of the new Plex app on iOS: How do we downgrade?

Did I test, of cause.

I only Tested via LAN

I believe there is future development for Downloads in the pipe.

Device Tested : iPad Pro 11" M4

this UI is terrible.

Why did you move the 30-second forward and 10-second back buttons outside — where the previous and next video buttons used to be? That’s a major logic issue.

Why did they change the order of the buttons?
How is that supposed to be an improvement?
It’s been that way for years!

What have changed about protocols on Live TV?
Seems older versions where more tolerant about protocols for stream on Live TV.
On this new version I get an error while trying to watch my Live TV channels but it works on older versions.

[EDIT] FIXED

What platform is that? On Android there is no change, it was always that way.

EDIT: Seeing the topic it’s obviously iOS, ok.

I’m very very upset. I had a 5 hour flight and had downloaded several movies to watch. Got up in the morning and onto the plane only to find I have this update and NONE of my now “migrated” downloads work. Wasted my time, Plex.

I just want to see my media. I don’t want the trending trailers view. I don’t want the what is playing on TV view. Yet that is now the default view when I open the app. Why?!! The continue section is gone, segregated by library. Maybe I want to watch the rest of a movie or continue a show without having to switch libraries? The settings options are almost non-existent.

This is really really bad.

I just downloaded v2025.15.0 and they managed to make Live TV even worse. Now when you swipe out of the app while playing something in Live TV (real live TV, not the streaming channels they provide), not only does the playback crash but when you go back into the app it’s stuck on a weird empty guide screen. And there’s no way to get back to the home screen.

I’m back to my original statement: Why was this released before it was finished or even working at all? Plex should have kept this as a separate app until it was unborked.

EDIT: Like I said earlier, it’s the stupid forced landscape mode that’s breaking this. Again, I say, kick whoever asked for that off the testing team immediately, they know not what they say. :joy:

Downgrading is easy Downgrade to old iOS Version and turn off updates only for Plex - Howto! - no jailbreak required

It’s almost like the sidebar was perfection that needed no upgrades or adjustments and needed to just be left alone.

Maybe at some point instead of just talking about how much they listen they will actually listen and give us a plex “classic” option or just give us actual plex back. Either way, this is one of the dumbest fumbles since “New Coke”!

Yea, I’m not downgrading iOS. They can revert to the previous build of the app or they can lose my money.

Quick update for anyone reading: In version 2025.15.0 you can now turn off the forced landscape mode!

I found it by accident because for some reason it’s not in the settings (). You actually have to start playing something, then go into the playback options. From there you can uncheck the Lock to Landscape option.

Remember that will be Library wide, same as Display Mode.

Exactly, they can toss out a plex classic if they want, or just give me back what the hell I paid for!

Yup. That exactly what I want. Nothing should ever lock to a vertical or horizontal playback mode, especially since we have PiP now which breaks when things lock to landscape. Glad they made this happen, but unlocked should be default.

Same…have HD Homerun and the guide won’t populate in the new app. If I couldn’t access the web app I would be looking for another option besides Plex!

iPadOS 18.4.1
Client Version 2025.15.0 (1053)

If you scroll up a bit, you’ll see that I had the same problem initially, but after I refreshed the guide, it started working in the new app. But there are other problems, like it will no longer play in the background, it’ll just crash. There are a bunch of other issues as well.

My iOS streams (both local and remote) keep jumping back to the beginning of an episode, then eventually gives me this error
