Not able to access plex server from smart tv and amazon fire tv devices

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#: don’t know where to find that information.

Everything has been running fine for over a year. Recently, the server automatically downloaded and installed a software update. Now, I can’t access my content on my smart tv or my amazon fire tv stick, both of which are in my home and on the network as the server. I can still access the content on mine and family members’ phones, no matter whether we are home and on the same network or away from home and off the network. I went to the remote access section of the settings page on my server. I tried disabling, then re-enabling remote access. After I re-enable it, it shows that my server is accessible outside my network, but only for a few seconds. Then it shows that my server is not accessible outside my network.

I am having the exact same problem. Everything has been working perfectly and all of a sudden, last night I was showing a friend how well the Fire Stick worked with PLEX and it was unable to connect. So I tried to connect using the Plex app on my android tablet and received the same message. This is the first major problem I have had and it is one that needs to be corrected. My problem also occurred after the latest server update and there is no way to roll back the update or I certainly would have tried that.

My server version is 1.18.4.2171 if that helps anyone.

OK, my problem has been solved. I also installed a new Windows Insider build a few days ago and it seems it may be firewall related. Simply opening the port with a command line instruction has solved the problem. To do this, open a Command Prompt with administrator rights and run this command:

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=“Plex Server” dir=in action=allow protocol=TCP localport=32400

Following this, disable and enable Remote Access in your server settings and everything should return to normal.

I don’t know anything about command prompt system. But I fixed it. When i originally downloaded the program to install it on my computer, i saved it on my external hard drive in a folder called “Reboot”. So i uninstalled the server program from my server computer, then reinstalled the program version from my reboot folder, which is over a year old. That fixed the problem and it has been working perfect since.
