Not Able to add Libaries keeps Spining

Hello, I am at my wit’s end. I have two Synology NAS one is DS215 and the other is Ds218+ I recently had my isp move outside. So the issue I am having when I set up my plex server through Synology unable to add libraries on either server. So I can log in through my Network and add movies or tv shows that way. So, for example, I can go to my apple tv or ps4 or smart TVs run the plex app doesn’t show any media. If I go to my apple tv and go to VLC it will show my media and can play it from there but not on plex. Any help would be so appreciated sorry new to this.

As Trumpy points out, the Plex share is private for PMS use only. It serves as persistent storage so you can change versions without data loss.

When the package is installed, and I create the Plex share,

  1. I create it hidden
  2. Only user ‘plex’ has acccess to it.
  3. I write warnings in it to not place any media in several languages because of these type problems.

Please move your media out of the share as quickly as possible.

So how do I do that sorry I am new to this?

No problem… It’s really VERY easy.

  1. Control Panel
  2. Shared Folders
  3. Create
  4. Create a shared folder of name that makes sense to how you want it organized. I use movies, television, music, photos
  5. In each of those shared folders, as I create them, I give user plex permission to read them (you’ll see it as you use the Synology creation wizard).
  6. When done creating everything, you can open File Station twice (two windows)
  7. Drag the media files from one into the other (Smart Drag&Drop) and DSM will move them for you.
  8. When it’s all done, EDIT the library section, “Folders” and point it to the new shared folder where the media is and save.
