Not able to add new content to one section

Server Version#: Version 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: Version 4.40.1

I have two directories on my DS-420+, both at the root of Volume1, Movies and TV.

Even though both have the same permissions and ownership as far as I can tell, the Movies section stopped adding new material ten days ago, while the TV section ads both new series and episodes.

What am I doing wrong?

It’s not possible to tell solely from the description.

Would you please have it scan for files again,
Allow that to complete,
Download the Log files (settings - server - troubleshooting - download logs)
Attach that ZIP file here.

If you don’t mind Restarting Plex and waiting 2 minutes before having it manually scan for the files again that would be MUCH better for me . I’ll be able to see everything in one glimpse.

Sorry I didn’t supply more information.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex package.
I have restarted the Synology NAS.
I have scanned for media several times with no luck.

My brother is watching a show at the moment. I can kick him off and restart if necessary.

I am restarting the Synology at the moment.

Restarted and did fresh scan.

Thanks for your help.

If I may comment:

  1. Your file naming for some look like you just dropped the names you got in and hoped for the best while others look properly escaped for the extra informational title info. I’m not trying to be harsh but, for as good as Plex is, some of your names are a mess. A tool like FileBot or TheRenamer or using Radarr would fix a lot of that for you.

  2. Is this a television series in the movies section?

I did not find any actual permission errors which therefore implies the failure in adding content has to do with naming.

Can you find an example for me of either (or both) a movie or a series which you have which isn’t adding so I may test here? Please show me the names exactly as you have them.

I’ll fix that one. It was a series of movies, but packaged as a pair.

I looked at the Console, and I’m seeing XML Parser errors after I filtered for errors only:

I’m going through the Movie name sections. 99% of this material was copied from my older server, so I’m going through the most recently added material looking for poorly named directories and files.

I had been adding a whole bunch of Collections just before I had a problem adding new content.

As I edit titles, the number of titles varies between 2070 and 2098.

I will carefully go through all the folders looking for ones with more than one movie title per.

One thing to keep in mind,

  1. Once PMS scans them and fails to match using the initial name,
  2. Most times, you must “Plex Dance” (move out, scan, empty trash, clean bundles, move back , scan again) to get the match.

Not familiar with “clean bundles”.

I’ve been spoiled by how good Plex is, as you pointed out.

I’m discovering a lot of problems with my file naming, as you point out. But this most recent scan still fails to find any file newer than 11 days old. Do you suggest that I move all the newer ones to a directory outside of “Movies”, scan, empty trash “clean bundles” etc?

Vertical ellipsis → Manage Server → needed functions here

It’s not in the same place on the Synology NAS, but I was able to find it in “Troubleshooting”.

I moved all files newer than 15 days to another directory, scanned, cleaned bundles, optimized the database, then brought them back in and scanned again…and still no joy.

Please download the logs zip now and attach it. I will look through the scanner logs.

Here you go. Thanks again.

Found it, thanks.

Edit: One additional piece of data - I’m getting this error in the Console log:

Unknown metadata type: folder

I think I just fixed it!

Apparently I had “Scanner” and “Agent” set wrong!
