Not available outside your network

I’ve searched the forums, searched google, tried to forward ports, and almost everything else I can think of, but I still cannot get this “Not available outside your network” thing to go away.

I have a Sagemcom 1704N Windstream Modem, and I’d really appreciate any assistance I can get on this (as fast as possible). I wanted to talk to a live customer service representative, but it appears Plex is too cheap to provide such a service (despite the monthly payment I make to them).

If I cannot resolve this issue soon, I may attempt a refund (if possible) or I may decide to switch to a competitor.

I am happy with the local network viewing (it actually works, but I could do the same thing with the windows sharing setting), but I’d like to use the program outside of the home network. I have multiple networks at my house, and only being able to view it on a single network is bad for me. I do use Windows 10, if that matters to anyone.

Has your PMS a static IP and have you forwarded TCP port 32400 to the correct IP of your server?
If you have done this and it still doesn’t work you may want to try to check Manually specify public port under Settings -> Server -> Remote access. But leave the port on 32400.

Reinstalled, it works now.
Thank you for the quick reply

Just a fair warning, it sounds like as if you made it work by getting UPNP to work - which is notorious for having this types of hiccups (besides the safety issues). Since I don’t want you to come back to the forum later very upset at it not working anylonger (again) I’d advise you to take the time and effort to setup as Robert described. It will be much more stable for you, sure, a little more frustration now (to get it going) but much less so in the long run.

And sorry if I misunderstood and you actually do have it correctly, manually, setup. Just being friendly here.

I agree, you should do the port redirection and avoid UPnP.

Is there a way to remote access when you cannot update your router settings?

yes via using UPnP and itt would be very flaky and you would see interruption in service.

I’m running the latest OSX on an iMac connected to an Airport extreme via ethernet which is connected to a media hard drive via USB. The movies show up as a local folder on my mac. The ios apps work great while in network but it’s not available outside my network. I tried specifying port 32400 on both the Plex server as well as my Airport Extreme and still it’s showing that this isn’t available outside my network.

I went through the troubleshooting guides too. Not sure where to go from here…

Here’s a screenshot of my current settings.

Where you have defined Plex Server have you configured the mapping there?

A sample is shown below

You need to specify the IP address of the system running Plex, as well as the port numbers for public and private, mine is configured this way, just with different IP’s and its working perfectly

Having the same issue. I set up Port Forwarding

Checked the box for manual connection and it still will not connect

Same problem for me… will try the solutions in this thread.

I made all the changes above, nothing worked.
I static assigned my Laptop IP
Created port forwarding to it
Rebooted router and laptop
Nothing, that was friday. Nothing all weekend.
Today I get a message it connected, I did nothing to push it.
Is this connection going to be this flaky?
