Not available outside your network

Server Version#: 1.43.1.10611
Plex server OS: Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS (LXC container, Proxmox 9.1.9)
Router: Fritz!Box 5690 Pro (port forwarding configured)
iOS Client: 2026.9.0 (1704), Platform 26.4.2
Plex Web everytime accessible via Cloudflare Tunnel

The problem — ongoing since April 2025 (13+ months):

Remote Access disables itself automatically after every manual re-enable. Public port shows as 0 in settings despite active port forwarding on the router. Affects both manual port (32400) and automatic mode.

macOS app fails to connect remotely with error: “app.plex.tv cannot securely connect to server ‘plex’”. Secure Connections setting is ignored/reset after service restart.

iOS app requires two launches to connect — on first launch the server is not found. On second launch, connection takes 30–45 seconds consistently, regardless of app version.

LXC container requires full restart to make the server reachable even on the local network.

Web access via Cloudflare Tunnel works without interruption — the server is running, the network is not blocked.

Confirmed non-issues:

VPN: problem occurs with VPN on and off
DNS blocking: none in place

Firewall: no rules

Jellyfin running in a separate LXC container on the same host, same network, same firewall — works perfectly at all times. The problem is Plex-specific.

Why I didn’t report earlier:

This appeared to be a widespread issue starting with the April 2025 updates. I expected Plex to resolve it. Instead, it has progressively worsened over 13 months across multiple server and client versions.

Disable Verbose logging and restart your server.

The port you have specified for Plex is blocked at the firewall, try to use a number > 49152.

Your forwarding rule should be something like 49152 → serverip:32400

I did, what you wrote. The situation ist the same. After ca. 30-50 seconds again:

Not available outside your network

Goto canyouseeme.org and check if your router is passing that port. Also the IP canyouseeme shows should match what your router sees.

It looks like it’s really been fixed. I have no idea how, but I had Port Sharing set up on the routers, and now it’s gone. I don’t know if it was during an update or what, but it was just deleted.

I admit I didn’t check it, because I was 1000% sure I’d done it a long time ago and it must be set up.

Thank you.

Hopefully it will continue to work without any problems.

Excellent!
