i am having trouble detecting one of my movies correctly: “The captains close up”. I added {tmdb-} and on another try {imdb-} number but still plex wasnt able to detect it correctly.
My guess: tmdb and imdb stores this as a mini series. But my version is a one file version from the blu ray. Is this the reason, because it doesnt work? With various other movies i do not have this kind of trouble.
I created 5 dummy episodes for the scanner to grab (no special naming)

It matched normally – as a TV Show (“For TV” specials / mini-series are done this way)
first: live long and prosper
Great documentary, bit to much Shatner, but great.
I am not sure if i understand what you’re saying.
Of course i could create five dummy files. But it wouldnt solve my issue. I’d like to watch my movie with plex. With dummy files … well … i could watch dummy files.
So, wild guess: the first of the files is the movie and the other four are dummies? Or did i miss something?
Thank you very much for your instant help. Your support is always appreciated.
Kind regards.
Seeing that it’s a “TV mini-series” (emphasis on “series”), I created it in Plex as if it were a normal multi-season show. This “Show” happens to have only 1 season with 5 episodes.
The point I’m making is:
This is a TV program. I hope you’re placing it in a TV Shows library type?
Naming it as it’s named on IMDB, as a TV show, the scanner finds everything without any special “force” of the ID.
If you’re placing this in a Movie section, then it will give you issues.
What do your names look like? Are they proper TV Series naming ?

With no assist whatsoever, in a TV series library,
sorry i didnt make myself clear. I did get it: actually its a tv series. BUT, i only have one file which includes all episodes as one file. This is the way the bluray was delivered.
So, what i do not understand: i have one “movie” file. How would it solve my issue creating dummy files? The dummy files would be detected as the real episodes. But, as they are dummies, i would not be able to play them.
TV Show Library/
....The Captains Close Up/
.......Season 01
........The Captains Close Up - S01E01-E05.mkv
TV Show, of course, but without further ado Plex will grab all the individual descriptions and list them to Appear as 5 episodes - but there will only be one when the Play button is pressed and it will play in it’s entirety.
