I am trying to figure out why a TV Show I just added is not showing up in my Plex Library. I am not sure if it is because the User that added the file is one of the User accounts I added to the server, or if that matters. I have it labeled as “showname\season\showname-sXXeXX-Title.ext”. My other shows show up just fine and they have a different user assigned to the folder. I am not sure if that would make a different.
What would be helpful to help determine the cause of the issue.
it should not matter if you mean Plex accounts. when you add a show you just add it to the main folder that has all the other files and hit “Scan for files”.
if you mean a different computer account there could be some permissions issue on the file I suppose
I have a server with different user accounts that I gave read/write permissions to the area plex points to where media is stored. I am wondering if that will make a difference with plex being able to read the folder for the library.
All of my other content I have recently copied over have shown up just fine in my Plex Library, so I don’t think it is how the files are stored. I am using an UnRaid Docker if that makes a difference. The only one given my problems is the one I just added recently. What would be the best way to check the metadata for the series? As far as I know I have the naming and structure is done the way that is recommended by Plex.
Is their a limit on how long a name can be for Plex to recognize the file?
One other question. When I look at the TV Show library in the folder view it is not seeing the folders in the Library. Yet when I look at that location in a terminal it sees all the folders in that directory. Could that also be a factor as to why it isn’t seeing the files.
